New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Or the Pharisees...

Oh my. The Boss just left. This is a new record.
(He's going to meet his wife and kids at an amusement park, and wouldn't take the whole day off)
mmmmmm....day off...
I'm in the homestretch now... just over an hour to go. And then it's happy family logistics time!
It's a math problem. "If Sibling X has the car which seats 8 out at the theatre already, and Mom is driving her car that seats 4, how many bothers must Jen take in her car?"
(Ans: I leave the little guy home with Mom, she and Dad bring him up later, and I take the three other boys and uncool sister)
Have fun at themovie. I don't think we'll try for it this weekend.
Twinkie tree?
Things that I have concluded over the last couple of days of thinking...
1. I am never safe.
2. I need a battery-powered radio.
3. I need a tornado safe-room
4. I should never keep more meat in the fridge than we can eat in a couple of days.
5. I should know where the candles are at all times
6. I should keep the fridge cleaned out of leftovers for the most part.
7. I should never put something in the grinder thingy in my sink and neglect to grind it right away.
8. I should keep on top of the laundry.
9. I should purchase long matches to light the stove.
10. I should get the jedis in the hallway (center of the house) as soon as possible when storms are coming because they come on so fast.
11. I should never try to beat a storm.
Can you make something like chili with all the meat and then refreeze? You have power now, right?
Well it is elvish...
Heh, my mom didn't want to go tonight, either, but she was outvoted 6 to 2. I offered to just take the sibs and go... My sister purchased the tickets this morning, and we're getting there 45 minutes early to get seats. But it would ruin my streetcred to not see the movie this weekend.
That's a good list 2J. Even as much of a pain as this morning's training was, the guy made a good point. He talked about his 23 years in the Air Force training to do his one job that he never got to do. He was trained to launch nuclear weapons. He never did of course. But he was ready.
"Be prepared" is more than just a scout motto. I know after Isabel we'll take future warnings more seriously.
I dunno...I look at it and an so overwhelmed that my mind goes blank! Steve'll take care of it...he's good at that kinda thing. I think he mentioned meatballs. And the steak, well, we only had two steaks...we'll likely eat them tonight.
All my frozen stir-fry veggies are thawed too...so we'll have to cook it up soon. That's ok...it'll get eaten.
I kinda wish we'd planned to do that. Looks like it may rain all weekend. But I have plenty to do.
I thought of Twinkies, too :) BTW I forgot to mention the creatures who introduce Lazarus to this cake are described as "little people". . .
I never realized that our kids would ever be able to tell the difference between the good Gulf shrimp and the stuff I have to get in the grocery store. The stuff I buy locally is usually Black Tiger shrimp from Asia, and it's not too bad, but just isn't as good. Sometimes when we travel down to MS, we'll bring local shrimp back with us in frozen 5# blocks!
We were having shrimp one night and Paul said that some kids at college said they didn't like shrimp and he told them that if they had some fresh shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico, they'd probably change their minds!
I think I want to get a new crockpot one of these days. Which has nothing to do with anything, I suppose...except that there are lots of good soups and stews I could have on this diet that would work good in a crockpot. The one I have now is old enough that it doesn't even have the new kinda electrical plug, where one side is bigger than the other...know what I mean? And I'm still afraid of it! Using it only when I'm home kinda defeats the purpose.
So...some day I'd like to get a new one that I'm not so nervous about just USING.
yep...that's right...be prepared. When I saw that debris shooting through the air I realized that I didn't have a clue what these storms were about before. Now I realize how totally unprepared I am.
I didn't sleep good last night either...I feel like I should "do" something!!
Maybe if I go buy that radio I'll feel better. The storm alert doesn't pinpoint the way the local news does. The other night when the sirens were going off (and ot slept through them) they were saying our street name and everything and Steve and I were just sitting on the couch watching the news, jedis sleeping on the airbed in front of us! What is WRONG with us!!?? We shoulda been up and in the hall already!!
I just had no idea.
Uh-oh. You're on a Mac? Shall I be forced to come over and find you a real computer?
Not that there's anything wrong with Macs... snerk..
