~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XII~
May 14, 2004 | bentfeather and poets of The Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Message From/To A Friend

Sometimes...
we take our yesterdays for granted,
the good deeds of everyday people
accepted and expected as the status quo,
minimizing the importance
of the friendly phone call,
the warm hug
received at 'just the right moment',
'just when I needed it most'.

When I'm feeling down,
your face appears, unbidden,
in the theater of my mind.
Just the thought of you
makes me feel better,
more significant.
A smile comes to my lips
as I realize how precious friendship is,
the value of the emotional hug
I have just received,
the need fulfilled,
to know I am appreciated
by a fellow human being.

Our friendship defies definition,
what mere words might convey.
It is no coincidence.
It defines us,
has a life of its own.
From behind the crumbling curtains
of my daily existence,
it peeked out and told me to tell you,
to thank you
for the phone calls, the hugs,
your spontaneous guest appearances
on the stage of my emotions.

Good morning, everyone! How are things with the Lair crew today?

The wondrous moment of our meeting
Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin

The wondrous moment of our meeting
Still I remember you appear
Before me like a vision fleeting,
A beauty's angel pure and clear.

In hopeless ennui surrounding
The worldly bustle, to my ear
For long your tender voice kept sounding,
For long in dreams came features dear.

Time passed. Unruly storms confounded
Old dreams, and I from year to year
Forgot how tender you had sounded,
Your heavenly features once so dear.

My backwoods days dragged slow and quiet --
Dull fence around, dark vault above --
Devoid of God and uninspired,
Devoid of tears, of fire, of love.

Sleep from my soul began retreating,
And here you once again appear
Before me like a vision fleeting,
A beauty's angel pure and clear.

In ecstasy my heart is beating,
Old joys for it anew revive;
Inspired and God-filled, it is greeting
The fire, and tears, and love alive.

Sleep from my soul began retreating,

I wish, I could go to sleep for a few more hours

THE RASMUS - "Not Like The Other Girls"

No more blame
I am destined to keep you sane
Gotta rescue the flame
Gotta rescue the flame in your heart

No more blood, I will be there for you my love
I will stand by your side
The world has forsaken my girl

I should have seen it would be this way
I should have known from the start what she's up to
When you've loved and you've lost someone
You know what it feels like to lose

She's fading away
Away from thís world
Drifting like a feather
She's not like the other girls
She lives in the clouds
And talks to the birds
Hopeless little one
She's not like the other girls I know

No more shame, she has felt too much pain, in her life
In the mind she's repeating the words
All the love you put out will return to you

Should have seen it would be this way
Should have known from the start what she's up to
When you've loved and you've lost someone close to you
You know what it feels like to lose
(Know what it feels like to lose)

She's fading away
Away from thís world
Drifting like a feather
She's not like the other girls
She lives in the clouds
And talks to the birds
Hopeless little one
She's not like the other girls I know

She's fading away
(away from this world)
Away from thís world
(She's drifting)
Drifting like a feather
She's not like the other girls
She lives in the clouds
(Talks to the birds)
And talks to the birds
Hopeless little one
She's not like the other girls I know

Was listening to their album, heard the song, and then spent a good 15 minutes hunting for accurate lyrics online.
*chuckle*
That band has been around for awhile, but finding their albums is an interesting adventure.
Kinda like finding certain songs by the band "Morphine".
Their lead singer, guy by the last name of Sandman, died on the stage of a heart attack in concert in 2000.
So their last album has stayed at 18 bucks per.
