Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

They had curtains and a TV in their cage?LOL! No, the cage was outside, but one day my Dad let me and my brother bring one of them in the house for a little bit, and my brother and I let him wander around the room a bit without watching as closely as we should have, so first he went behind the curtain and chewed that without us realizing it, then he started on the cord for our new color TV. That was the last time we were allowed to bring them in the house :)

I like some African food, too. There was this one African restaurant in Milwaukee I liked. Some of their spicy stuff reminded me of Thai food but had a distinct flavor. Didn't know that about the origin of "satay"--that's interesting. Now I'm really hungry, LOL!

Yes, the toast went over good, however it was straight from the heart anyway.THAT is the most important part! And it's what makes it so impressive. Even when you post it here, all of us know how much from the heart it is. That's what made it so spectacular! :-)
Far as skiing goes. It's what my family did from April to October when I was a kid/teenager. Somehow, I don't even remember it causing pain or sore muscles when I was learning! Certainly I never remember popping up on the skis and then thinking my muscles were screaming obscenities at me!!!
And for the record... the only reason I slalomed that day... was like so many other things in my adult life... I just had to do it to show the others that I *COULD* .... no matter how much I hurt! I am not thinking that way of life is sane. But, I've been stuck in that rut for years. Am trying to come up with a new philosophy. :-)

I read that about the satay in a Thai cookbook we have.
I forgot, I make a very good Thai ginger fish, and also a good spicy one, fried in oil in the cast iron skillet or my steel wok, with plenty of really hot hot sauce on the side.
I have to wear gloves when making the hot sauce, else the scotch bonnets burn my fingers.

That Thai fish sounds really good. I've never had Thai fish, apart from the seafood they somtimes put in Tom Yum Gai. I like what they do with ginger, as well as hot spices. What kind of fish do you put that on?

Whatever I catch, but yellowtail snapper is my favorite, and often used by the local Thai restaurants as well, since they are fairly plentiful around here.

You catch it yourself, too? Quite the culinary skills you have there :) I bet that fish must taste very fresh!
Getting ready to log off soon, so have a good night!

ps.
I'm far from a skilled cook, or even a good one. But I do like to have fun in the kitchen sometimes.
