Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I am now in a worse tax bracket cause I no longer have Myranda as a deduction! I guess another job would make that even worse. Hadn't thought of that! Good reason just to stick with this the way things are now until I know which way it's gonna go.
I'm not concerned about being able to find another job. I can always find a regular drafting job. It's that I don't want to have to do it in this place in which I don't like to live anyway. I like my job. But, if I can't have this job in this town there is NO WAY I want to stay here. Makes things a bit more complicated.

OT and I were talking about how maybe she could cruise down here and then we could drive together down to visit Wn sometimes! Or vice versa! We could camp in OT's apartment of no furniture! :-)

I'll be freepmailing folks with my new email address as soon as it looks like this ISP is viable. As a creature of habit, you have no idea how much I loathe making a change after almost 10 years without trouble on Earthlink. But they flushed it all down the toilet tonight.I know what you mean there. I had the same email for quite a few years before I moved up here to learn my provider didn't have service here. Making the switch was definitely a pain.

Might go out for Thai food for dinner, though.Sounds great--Thai food is my favorite :) I usually get Tom Yum Gai with crab rangoon as an appetizer, and some type of chicken dish with the hottest possible spice for the main course. I especially like chicken with pineapple.

I still have one other option, I THINK...dunno enough to be sure. One of the guys I work with - the senior technician (I'm the assistant) may be leaving to go to grad school. If he does, I might be able to apply for his job and move up one slot. Wouldn't be automatic, I don't think...and I don't know if I'd be accepted. But it's one possibility.
I seriesly love my home here, and the more I think about leaving, the more I realize that. But I have to be able to make a living, or it doesn't matter HOW much I like it...it still won't work.

On the archery discussion, when you mentioned the buffalo bows being different than what we're familiar with, it got me thinking about different types of foreign bows, which reminded me of a discussion I had recently about bows which are fired with help from the feet--think they use those in Korea. Have you ever seen/used one of those?

Oh!
Well, first of all, even if I have started school, there will be time to hang. If you're there in early August, we can explore the town together.
Whatever apartment I get will probably not allow pets, but I'm going to look for a place with a month-by-month lease. That would be awesome.
I went shopping. Bought the first pair of shorts I've owned in four years. It feels great. Also got the new Rurouni Kenshin manga - Borders didn't have it, but the mall bookstore did. So even though it's going to pour, I'm happy.

Speaking of sore muscles yesterday: since I slacked on two of my workouts last week, I made up for it last night by adding an extra hour to my workout. I usually do 100 reps of the moves in my aerobic routine. Ideally I'd like to do 1000 of each of 12 major drills I'm supposed to practice (which is what my teacher does every day); I had a knee injury for a while so I had to take it easy, but last night I decided to try 1000 of the first two drills and 500 of the rest, along with my regular aerobic workout. So I can relate to the soreness today :)
Watching a documentary on the history of the Green Berets right now while I catch up on FR. Will probably watch some anime or something later and get some writing in.

I am thankful to be able to memorialize those who have given all for my freedom as I know all of you are.And also thanks to those like WN and others here who have done their share supporting the troops from the home front :)

If nothing else we get a nearly free visit! I can probably stay with you for a few days, right?
I still have to find out more details from them...figure out if it'd actually work.
