Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Not true. My b-i-l had a grooms's cake with the University of Richmond logo on it.

Some civilized things are *really* good!

I think I'll have a chocolate wedding cake. Chocolate's better than white, anyway.

I'd be miserable in the sun at 80 degrees!

How 'bout 78? I'll have to forget shorts though.

Well, in a way we're having a groom's cake. That day is my parents' 39th anniversary, so we are having a cake for them too. And we may have the best man (my older brother) toast them instead of us.

My story's coming along fairly well. I think I'm over the hump and will be able to write quite a bit this weekend.

Cool :) Looking forward to seeing how it's coming along.

Glad you're starting your lifting routine. I have a minor one built into my aerobic workout but it's not what I'd like to be doing. When I moved I didn't have room for my weight bench amidst everything else that had to fit in the basement, so right now I've got a bunch of weights without the bench or space to use them. After I clear some space (i.e after adding an addition to the garage) I mean to get another bench. Meanwhile I have to find ways to do the same exercises without weights. I've been using a tree in the backyard for chin-ups, which covers some stuff. Would love to have some real equipment for dead lifts and leg lifts and stuff like that, though.

The chore will definitely be fun--not! :) Speaking of which I've gotta go do it now, so I'll be back a little later. Meanwhile have a nice afternoon and get some writing done! :)

That's the silliest thing I ever heard. It should be what people ~like~! - Go with chocolate if you want, Jen.

Our weather is not Phoenix, or Texas

Looking forward to it! It's getting to be the time of year I like least in Texas.

Carrot cake is white enough.

I used to make wedding cakes sometimes. I used Italian Cream Cake. :-)

Cool. Weddings are really about family anyway. Inclusion is good.

I went overboard with my second marriage. Bloody ceremony mechanics wiped out everything that day. We had a fight our wedding night. It went downhill from there...
