Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

The parents sat around talking mostly...and eating. 'Cept me...I'm a black sheep in every situation. I went off and rode the horse too...when I could pry the kids off!LOL! The tree fort part sounds fun, too :)

So far, nothing. It's just the notification that "conditions are favorable for tornado development." It's tornado warning when you have to panic!
To: Overtaxed
Only had two of those to my memory here in NY.
And both times when they gave the Warning it was laready too late.
They never even gave an advisory first, just, "Oh, by teh way, there's a tornado here folks. Move along, nothing to see ho hum. It's only ripping teh snot out of stuff over by the schools, but your kids are okay."
That was the first one. (F1, not worth talking about really)
Tornadoes aren't very common here.
So when the second warning happened in 99, I was up at Fort Drum during AT and got to hear about how not one but 5 funnels were seen in my 'home' area.
Recently heard that one of them may have been F3, maybe F4.
*shrugs*
Thought it odd.

Even Massachusetts allows homeschoolers to compete on school sports teams! A family over in Bedford sued and won that right for all homeschoolers! I met the lady last year. She's not a real firebrand or anything, she just knew her kids wanted to play on the school sports teams and didn't see any reason why they shouldn't. She has to send the school board the information about their grades, etc., but she'd have done that anyway.
She pays any extra fees the other kids would have to pay to be on the teams, etc. but all her kids have participated.

Check with your district about the sports. In PA, it's a district by district decision - I have no clue what it's like in VA - but often those people have a lot of discretion and might just be able to help you out.

Well, since you live so close, you could come down another weekend other than the 4th. Y'all could drive down on Friday after work cause it would still be light until about 9pm, then drive back during the day on Sunday! Y'all could watch anime all day on Saturday, unless our #2 son could talk y'all into a mondo game of Twilight Imperium! ;o)

Mama used to always say I looked like white trash when I came back from Grama'sLOL! I've always loved bright colors, and never was held too much to what the 'in' colors were because I sewed for myself, as long as I could find fabric that I liked. Purple and green was a combo I always liked as well as the turquoise, pink and purple combo. Red and purple are my two favorite colors right now.
I never wore black much, but when I had my colors done, it showed that black is a good color for me. I prefer navy if I'm gonna wear something dark, but I do have a nice black sweater set that I can wear for at least 2 seasons up here!

Steve is looking great!! I don't see anything wrong with his using safety glasses as sunglasses!
I'm fixing to order some safety glasses for myself that are sorta bifocals. I hate having to bring my reading glasses out with me in case I need to look closely at something, and I don't need them unless I AM looking closely. I don't need sunglasses because I'll likely be wearing a hat with a wide brim anytime we're working outside.
