Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

*shudder!!*

I'll never understand why the Good Lord saw fit to create such a hideous thing. Couldn't He have designed cockroaches to look like small bunnies or something?

Are you renting equipment, or digging by hand (ouch!)?

We bought a used little backhoe/front loader that we named 'Gimli'!! It was cheaper to buy it than to rent one as we needed it. We're going to be doing various and sundry construction and landscaping jobs over the next 3 years, so it was cheaper to buy it than to try to rent one as we needed it.
We're hoping to find an electric boom lift, and we'll name it 'Treebeard'!

Pretty ... I've never heard that...

I have to sing three times in the next few months... I wanna do this one...

"Son of Your Love" by Fernando Ortega...

I am a man made from the dust
You are a King Holy and just;
This is my prayer as I turn my eyes above,
make me a son of Your love

I would repay, wrongs done to me-
You hung in silence, nailed to a tree;
help my darkened understanding
of the way you move
through the life of a son
of Your love

I in my shame fall on my knees
I call out your name;
Mercy and grace flow from Your throne,
Shine from your face
Sometimes I live caring for none
You would have died for only one;
Here is my heart, seal it with Your blood
Spilled for a son of your love

I in my shame fall on my knees
I call out your name;
Mercy and grace flow from Your throne,
Shine from your face

'Evening all!

OB I went to Home Depot in search of pots and found this "plant watering" pot. It's and unglazed pot inside a glazed one. I got it because the outer pot has a hole near the top...for a watering can, I guess....but I thought it was just right for the cord of the water pump to go through. Voila! A small patio fountain!

Hi Bear!!

I really, really want to see it! I have to wait until next weekend though because Alyson is just too small to go to a theatre yet. :-(

Besides, I'm hoping I can find someone to go with me. An extra week buys me some time.

Smart, because the crowds will thin out a bit by next week. Although the showing we went to was by no means full. 'Course, it was an afternoon showing, and it was on four screens at the theater we went to....

We may have to get this on DVD, so that we can catch all the funny bits we missed in the theater...

I have the first one on DVD and I watch it at least once a month - very funny! And since I've heard Shrek 2 is funnier still, I'm eager to see it.

It's definite must-own, IMHO. And if you haven't bought the first one, now is a good time since they are including an extra "short" in 3D with glasses and all!

Cool thinking with the watering pot / patio fountain!

I would say that "2" is funnier than the first one... it certainly had a lot more in-jokes and cultural references, including some very subtle ones. That's why I want to see it again, because I don't think I caught everything the first time!

I've also heard that the Puss in Boots character is fantastic. Antonio Banderas plays him, right?

The Week From Hell. Virii and worms ate at the very soul.

Got one in Oakland that still defies explanation or description. Appears to be a totally unknown malware trojan of some kind. We think we got it cleaned out, but no antivirus or spybot could find it or stop it.

Bastidges.
