New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Sounds like sneaking out while they're gone would be easy enough... if not for the risk of getting caught. What about one of those 'safety guy' mannequins that will sit in the passenger seat of the car... can you prop up one of those at your desk? ;~D
It woulda worked before they moved me to Fangorn...
You could administer the test yourself. You can spread it out over several days like they do in schools. I got the test booklets and stuff from Bob Jones University. They send the test answer sheets and the booklets with the questions. Matthew would read the questions and mark the answers on the test sheets. When you're done. you send the whole shebang back to BJU, they'll grade the test and send you the results. I did both the Iowa Test of Basic Skills and the Cognitive Tests with Clare and Joseph.
If he's never done one of those 'bubble tests' before, you can just make a couple of copies of one of the answer sheets and let him practice filling in the 'bubbles' so he can see how easy it is to both fill in or erase, if he marks the wrong one. He'll be less nervous taking the test if he understands that. I think it is less than $50 for both tests and the grading service.
We had parents at the Catholic school our kids attended that used to argue with the principal about why their child should not have been in the 99th percentile because they didn't get any wrong answers. She had to explain carefully that their kids WERE the 100th, that 99% were BELOW them. Took them a bit to process that. ;o)
Wow, they let you do that yourself? In PA, they have to be administered by a certified teacher or the state won't accept the results. We had to be tested in 3, 5, and 8th grades, as well as turning in a portfolio and evaluation every year.
Mom's so happy. Next year she's down to just three portfolios to have to worry about.
Marking my place.
LOL!! You's a smart girl!!
Makes me feel not so stupid for having thought the same thing in 3rd grade!
Mom always said the tests didn't mean anything anyway, they were just something the state required. She knew how we were doing, and didn't care if we were 99th% or 5th%.
You shure you ain't got some dwarf in ya?
Sticklebats! Head troll will be back in about 20 minutes...
I think Jr.'s paintball gun would fit the bill nicely. It would be clear in just WHOSE yard the dogs had been!
Hey, great election slogan! Goes along with, "We don't need no cojones!
You'd miss 'em if they wuz all gone.
you sure you don't wanna re-think that?...
Or "Bride of Bigglesworth"--LOL!
Hope you don't get any floods! It'd be nice to have the night off, I bet, though. What will you do with your time off?
I'm watching Kenshin Disc 4 right now. Strangely it won't play on my computer, but the DVD player on the TV will play it.
There is no 'state authority' dealing with homeschoolers in MA. Surprising, actually, considering it's such a nanny state otherwise. We've had great folks who have been lobbying for us.
I did the test for my own use; I didn't have to turn them in to anyone. The first two years we h/sed, I didn't even send in any paperwork to the town School Committee. No one ever asked for anything! At the beginning of this year, the Asst. Supt. asked for a few samples of work, but I haven't sent in anything yet. Just haven't gotten around to it! I don't have to do anything next year though because Joseph will be going back to school. He's going to St. John's, the all boys Catholic high school Paul and David attended. Clare is 16 now, and after that age, you don't have to report at all!
Oh, we're having a lovely thunderstorm. Really loud thunder. Glad my computer's plugged into a surge protector.
If I don't have choir, I'll lift, then read a little - halfway through my reread of "Otherland", I was inspired to finish the reread by "Troy" the other night. Quartet by Tad Williams. Amazing series.
Then I'll watch one, or maybe two, Kenshin. I'm on disk 11. Sigh. It'll be done soon. You on the other hand are about the start the Kyoto arc. You'll know it's started when the blood starts flowing.
Of course, it's starting to look like I'll be working late so evening plans may be moot. Ha! Another problem demolished. This is satisfying yet time-consuming.
Whoa, that's nice. PA is one of the most restrictive states. I can't believe all the hoops Mom has to jump through.
On the other hand, in PA kids are not required to attend school until they're eight, so you only have to turn stuff in for eight years.
