Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I would hope that you'd back me up on my Fujinon fetish.Fujinon, sure. I'm trying to track down the Fujinon the military has adopted as the M-24. It's a compact model that replaces the big Steiner M-22s. But I want the genuine GI model with NSN and the killflash filters.

Really nice stuff. But dang... over $3K and my eyes just sorta glaze over. :-)REALLY nice, but I think that's mostly for folks who have too much money. If I was going to spend that much, I'd buy some battleship binoculars or East German OP binoculars.

I got the refund check from the post office!!!! $408 That is good news. It's not like the government to refund money in only two months. I figured you would get it next year sometime. Talk to ya later.

Talk to ya later. The check was only in my hands long enough to use it to buy more knives. By the way, I sent the last six knives of the 24 your buddies were supposed to get for Christmas. Need any more? Is the RA treating you any better? Have they earned some knives?

J Eff'n sez: You are very nearly correct, but the award of a panatela will not be forthcoming; furthermore, as panatelas and related products are unhealthy, as President, I will seek to have them abolished.
Dubya sez: Close, but no cigar. Keep tryin' though.

I'm glad you shared this. I wore a happy dress for Grama's funeral too. I knew she would want me to.Exactly! And...though humanly I was heartbroken, I also knew that she was beyond all mourning, and done with being sick and in pain.
I can't imagine what it would be like to lose someone that close to you without having any hope of anything to come. I think I would have lost my mind, seriously.

GMTA!!! I was counting today because Myranda's birthday is 1 week before the wedding. And her birthday is 1 month from today. :-) Now I can remember the date, too!
You know that's Bilbo's birthday, too, right? ;-)

Good morning!
We played at Middle Earth music hall last night and did GREAT. OK, so we still could "fancy" up the music some, but we were soooooo much better than we were performing at the open mics last summer, and we all knew it. One of those nice times when everything pretty much clicks and you feel like you almost CAN'T play wrong. Woo-hoo!
The place is pretty cool, too. It's all done up like a sort of woodsy pub, and the stage is a platform in front of a HUGH pretend fireplace with books on either side. Lots of LOTR quotes in various places, too. If anyone comes to visit, I gots ta take you there.
But today...I forgot my lunch. Grrrr. It's hanging on the front door knob at home. I HATE it when I do that.

That sounds like a really cool place! Sounds like tons of fun.
Sorry about the lunch. I forgot to cut up some brocoli last night so I'm stuck with just bratwurst - I usually have brats for lunch when I'm low-carbing. At least I remembered the mustard...

Congrats on the gig!

I had eggs and a big bag of veggies and a container of hummus...which woulda been good. I COULD eat what I have here and get away with it...cheese and nuts and a small container of yogurt. But it wouldn't be a very good meal, especially without vegetables.
On the bright side, I just got paid...so maybe I'll splurge and get a chicken Caesar salad from the diner down town. They make a WONDERFUL Caesar salad. One of my all-time favorite meals!

And you've been so good, you deserve a nice treat that's also not going to spoil things!
I'm taking Sunday off, since we're having a big party and my mom's making sourdough bread (oh, sourdough), but then it's on for pretty much the rest of the summer.

Regarding sourdough, according to my book, it's one of the better kinds of bread to have if you're gonna have some...something about it being acidic.
I'm allowed whole grain bread now, in moderation...I have a recipe that looks really good (lots of seeds and such) that I may try this weekend, especially as I could bring it out to the house. That way I'd have a slice or two, but not keep a TON of it around.
On the other hand, it's supposed to be rather warm this weekend...so maybe baking won't be very tempting...

**Is there a fund or address of some sort, to send donations, well-wishes, prayers, cards, etc to?**
As a matter of fact, there is...
http://home.att.net/~g.zornes/index.htm If you look on the "About our Family" page, you can see Matthew's best friend on the far right. They are two peas in a pod...intense, bright and funny. And both are Star Wars fans!

Amen...there's great comfort in that...
