Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Morning!
I was perusing the arboretum's plant list yesterday...they've got lemon verbena. I'll at least have a decent herb garden.
I need to find a nice but smallish patio fountain.
Sure ya don't want to come out next weekend?

OT: that does sound like a good idea, both the fountain and visit. I think ACE hardware has (or had) some smallish ones that were outdoor safe.
Sam; saw it in the movie house; heard a good radio story on the sound effects and how they were done. Yup, it was a good one, and the potential for a series is there. I think there is a bout 20 books all told, maybe they'll do some more Sharp's and Cadfaels while they're at it.
Best get a move on.

Hair; can't believe the CD music set for LOTR will have NINE cd'sSounds like a lot of extra music. I hope the music from the FoTR Extended version, where Sam and Frodo see the elves leaving Middle Earth, will be on it. It is such a gorgeous, though short, piece of music!

Well, it was Christmas in our house this mornng, at least for our inside dogs.
The display of unbridled emotion, pure and unadulterated joy, jumping, laughing and yowling was a sight to behold.
'Course it's Christmas every morning for them.
All because they get to be let out, to go through a door (going throught doors being one of the greatest possible means of satsifaction if you are a dog) and go out in the yard and "go."
The same thing will happen tonight when it's time for dinner, and they get served, joy of joy, *dogfood*!
Sometimes, enjoying a simple life is not a bad thing ;-)

Miscellaneous pictures from yesterday...
Found this "one horse open sleigh" for sale on the side of the road.... It needs a little TLC. Wouldn't that be the cutest thing ever?

Took a picture of some of the flowers that are blooming now at the beach house.... Grandma's purple lilac, and another shrub she used to call "snow in summer".

Dad has made very cute new flower boxes down the side of the house. This space was always kindof a pickle because the dirt there wasn't good, and planting flowers there was hard because of the slope.

I find myself shy to just write to him out of the blue! - I don't know why, we were all strangers here once!
Until I get up my nerve with something to say, please forward my support for them, and support for what they are doing!

Maybe you need a good Elf bash ice-breaker.

Some folks down the road from us have a sleigh that they put in their yard at Christmas and fill it with wrapped boxes to look like gifts! It's really cute!

It's really cute!Yeah we had someone who does that too only they put a Santa in the sleigh also. Scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it. I was driving at night and for a moment thought there was some nut in a Santa costume prowling the neighborhood.

It's west coast. Bet it starts late. Is that why I can't find it? On my way to nascar.com.

Thank you both!
As I still haven't heard from some members of my immediate family, you're not even that belated.
Sigh... back from church and it's rainy. Now it's time to run errands.
