Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Happy Birthday!
And, congratulations on finishing school!

Neat info about the Edmund Fitzgerald. I remember being so surprised to learn that it was a contemporary shipwreck. It sounded like an 'old' folk song, when it was really a NEW one!

We're gonna be tourists today and head down to Carlsbad Caverns. That sounds neat!--I've always wanted to visit there. Be sure to report on that for us!

sitting in the dark, listening to the rain and old-timey country on the radio here...Wow. That sounds like an excellent morning!!!
Hey, if we do your birthday moot on a Sunday won't Rose be having to work that day and the next? Wouldn't it be better if I came on a day when she was going to be off, or at least off the next day?

ROFL at 6,692!--Eddie Cantor, right? :)
To: SuziQ
LOL! It sounded like an old folk song to me at first, too :) Kinda reminds me of Woodie Guthrie's
"Reuben James".

Yep... KVET has a show from 5 to 10 am every Saturday, plays nothing but oldies... this morning they were highlighting songs by Hank Thompson, since he's playing in the area tonight.
If you want to come down on one of Rose's days off, that would be on a Friday or Saturday... maybe the 14th or 15th? Since I'm done with work for the time being, either would work!

I see you are having a bit of trouble trying to encourage tact and discretion on the Bogdan thread.
Oh, BTW,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEN!

Ain't we got fun?
Yes, Eddie Cantor. Just finished watching Arsenic and Old Lace. Hehehehe....wonder how many people nowadays would get all the Boris Karloff jokes.

LOL! Unfortunately I didn't know a musical that went with Texas mornings. They should make one, though! :)
