Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Does the pork chart say you can cook 'em like that?

Geesh...touch, touchy! ;-)

Sorry--I guess I'm just touchy 'cause'a all the hat-bashing that's been going on here lately :) Mr. Hat is sensitive, you know. . .

Oh, ugh. Boromir the Mini-skirted (and skivvied!) Viking, milks the giant cow. An image I could have done without.

I like boaters, that I do! :-D

Boaters are honorable hats, even in the Meiji era! :)

Haven't read "To Say Nothing of the Dog" yet, but mean to!

His fashion statement lost something in the translation.

The original statement in Elvish read, "I'm a Viking lumberjack and I'm okay. . ."

Honorable hats... oh very dear.

Hmm. That's what RK is missing... not enough hats, other than those round peasant things.

Not personally, but I know who he is. He's the Police union head. Police unions are a pretty tight bunch, not quite as leftist as most other unions (like longshoremen, which we've got plenty of here) but still on the left side of the dial. They protect their members like mother-Grizzlies, that I can tell you.

Boromir hails from a long and proud line of fine dressers:

The job hunt process is an emotional nightmare. Lots of outdoor time helped me (and our weather has been a plus). I think eventually just sheer persistence wins out, dip your toe in enough opportunities and one of them will pan out. It's a bummer, a lousy process.

I know someone who drives back here almost every weekend from Manhatten to stay with his family...drives out after work on Friday, leaves Sunday afternoon. Granted, he's insane...but if you did sumpin like that you'd have a full day and most of another at WNs place.

Yeah! What Rosie said!!!

Okay, how bout thinkin' about it sometime when you have a 3 day weekend?

Sounds like we need to invent some RK hats. . .honorable hats, of course. Including boaters--ninja boaters, with hidden weapons inside. . .

Master of the Flying Guillotine

Master of the Flying Guillotine

As the narrator explains, the Ching Emperor has trained numerous assassins in the use of the Flying Guillotine to kill off Ming rebels. This deadly and impractical weapon looks much like a Ching-era hat with a saw blade brim and a long chain attached. The user throws the weapon with practiced precision onto his victim's head. A chain netting with blades at the bottom drops down and one quick pull severs the head. Best of all, it collapses for easy carrying while traveling.

I think I am going to learn that she doesn't want my advice on children any more than she wanted my advice on her wedding. I don't know why I turned out so opinionated about stuff I don't know about! - I just did! And I don't think I am wrong! LOL

YOu can tell Sonya I said you were right! :-)

She will be.... then she won't be... then she will be.... then she won't be.... but then she will be because she won't miss your wedding for anything! :-)
