The Hobbit Hole VIII - Still round the corner we may meet...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I ruled out helmets because they're more like equipment than a style thing.

The dwarves in The Hobbit wore hats in the book, and JRRT was very specific about the color each one wore. They were traveling in "civvies", and I don't believe they changed into "battle rattle" until The Battle of the Five Armies.

Gimli in the LotR flix may have been "geared up" at the Council of Elrond for diplomatic purposes.

Men in hats and suits are indeed 'well'...

Rosie, I guess Jen hasn't seen Dr. T's hats and suits yet :)

That guy's not wearing a suit.

Besides, I already said I liked boaters, not hand-hats.

Fedora no baka! Hey, that does have a ring to it--kinda reminds me of Tarzan dialogue: "Kreegah, Bolmongani! Tarzan Bundolo!" :)

You mean you don't think Boromir's hat was stylish? :)

Thanks!--I thought I remembered the Dwarves wearing hats. I guess that's a sign I need to reread The Hobbit again. . .

LOL! That you said, that you did :)

I can't find a pic of the guy with the suit--that's be Dr. T later in the movie. Watch it and you'll see what I mean :)

Smallville is having Clark remember his origins on Krypton tonight--it's way cool.

Have you got any other leads?

Yes, may have a freelance web-development job... been studying up on PHP and MySQL for it.

Hm...guess I need me one o' these charts.

'Cept it doesn't seem to say anything about grilling. And I broke their rules and broiled an eye of round steak.

Oh well. It was still edible. ;-)

I like boaters, that I do! :-D

Sigh, wish I ever got to choose what was on tv. Or wait. I don't like anything that's on tv. I might like Smallville, though, if I got to watch it.

And I'm not being precise enough about the guy-hats, I think... sigh... you haven't read "To Say Nothing of the Dog", have you?

Oh well. Sometimes I'll get an eye round roast and cut steaks off of it.

How long did you broil it? I broil steaks all the time, and as long as all you do is make the outside brown and the inside warm, they're fine.

But I like my steaks mooing.

I broiled it too long. It was approaching well done.

Trouble is...I like very rare steaks but with brown on the very "corners"...hard to do that except on a grill.

I need a grill.

*snif*
