Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hmmmm...why did Fedora pick "Fedora" for a screename? Is he, in fact, an Elf with hat-wearing tendencies in a non-hat Middle Earth?

The only time I wear hats is when it's under 25 degrees or when out working in the sun.

Hats are cool. Fedoras - other than ours - are less cool. You know what's a cool guy hat? A boater. More people should wear boaters, and pinstriped suits.

Remember this bit?
BEDEVERE: Exactly. So, logically...
VILLAGER #1: If... she... weighs... the same as a duck,... she's made of wood.
BEDEVERE: And therefore?
VILLAGER #2: A witch!
VILLAGER #1: A witch!
CROWD: A witch! A witch!...
Yes, I'm on a Python kick this eve....

Hmmmm...why did Fedora pick "Fedora" for a screename? Is he, in fact, an Elf with hat-wearing tendencies in a non-hat Middle Earth?LOL! I didn't know Middle Earth was non-hat--how does Gandalf's hat fit into that? :) As I recall when I joined the Hobbit Hole we had a discussion of what Middle Earth race I belonged to and it was never quite resolved.
My screen-name is actually taken from espionage literature--it's the code name of a famous Cold War spy, which I picked because I do a lot of research in the history of Cold War espionage and many of my non-Hobbit posts relate to that.

Fedoras - other than ours - are less cool.Hey! :) We are too cool! Indiana Jones has a cool fedora.
You know what's a cool guy hat? A boater. More people should wear boaters, and pinstriped suits.
Actually I agree those are cool. Whenever I see those in 1930s films I think those look cool.

Hmmm....hats in Middle Earth. Gandalf and Tom Bombadil are the only ones I remember as wearing hats. Not including helmets during battles.

So...with five bucks I bought two small eye of round steaks, three bunches of scallions, and one container of butter. OK, so it was five twenty...pretty close.
One of these days I need to learn what eye of round, or top round, or whatever means...besides just "slice of bovine". I dunno one piece from another, really.
Anyhow I'm having red meat without the bone for dinner, with sauteed scallions and garlic, and artichoke (they were on sale the other day). Marinated the red meat with some garlic and chipotle Tabsco...smells good, in any case. It's broiling now.

You should hang your head in shame! You have dishonored our dojo with your spamming, that you have. My father was a great samurai who never spammed! Don't you dare say he did! [Fedora's eyes bug out Kenshin-style as he rants in mistranslated colloquialisms :) ]
Um, what's "no baka" about? :)

More people should wear boaters, and pinstriped suits.Mom and I had that discussion at one point. ;-) I don't think we ruled out fedoras, though. Just said men in suits and hats are...well...it's attractive.

I pulled some hamburger out of the freezer before it became unidentified frozen objects. Made something like chili.

Helmets are hats! :) I think Tolkien said Hobbits don't wear hats. Didn't the Dwarves wear hats, though?--they wear them in the cartoon, and I seem to remember them hanging them up as they came into Bilbo's house, though I may be getting that from the cartoon rather than the book. Don't remember if Elves ever wore hats. What about Boromir?--or is that just in Bakshi where he wears the Hagar the Horrible helm? :)

Men in hats and suits are indeed 'well'...

Heee... the tagline... well, 'baka' is a nice little insult meaning something like stupid. I'm not feeling lousy tonight or anything, I just found it amusing for some reason.
