OK, Andy - this sounds like a fit to the Electric Universe paradigm.

How about some hard facts to support your conclusions:
a list of historical periods with ALL solar activity and the corresponding terrestrial geologic or thermal response?

And, of course, citations for your data sources....

I'm here in the Chicago suburbs, no global warming - real cold today but you can tell when there is one of those flares, we had two this afternoon - the temperature went from 50 to 20 in 2 seconds, then back up, then an earthquake and 2 asteroids, so we came in the house, but everything is fine now.

I think solar activity of some kind, whether sunspots or flares may well have an effect on climate, perhaps long term effects such as global warming.

I'm pretty sure I've read that or heard it from folks more knowledgable than me.
