Arod traded to Yankees

-Rod reportedly traded to Yanks Print story AIM story Email story FOXSports.com Posted: 2 minutes ago The Yankees and Rangers have an agreement in principle on a monster trade that will send shortstop Alex Rodriguez to New York in exchange for Alfonso Soriano, Newsday is reporting.

No announcement is expected Saturday since there are still a few minor details to work out, but both sides are confident those won't hold up the deal. Rodriguez, the AL MVP, would be moved from shortstop to third base by New York, seeking to fill the hole created when Aaron Boone hurt a knee last month in a pickup basketball game, an injury that will require surgery. Derek Jeter, the Yankees' captain, would remain at shortstop.

The Yankees are expected to send a minor-league pitcher along with Soriano to Texas to complete the deal.

I agree about the morons buying tickets, but this had to happen.
Yuo can't pay one guy 19 million a year if you are not willing to spend 150 million a year on the whole team.
A-Rod has been an anchor around the Rangers necks, once Tom 'Buy-em-out' Hicks, decided he couldn't run with the big dogs.
It will be necessary to undo everything John 'Slick' Hart has done the last three years.
The next step is to rid ourselves of Chan Ho as in "It's out of the Park", if this can be accomplished and Hart takes I-30 East, and Hicks sells the team to somebody with money and a plan, we will be alright.
Short term pain, notwithstanding.

Fine trade Arod then. But get something in return. Soriano is a HUGE dropoff. Demand one of their pitchers for crying out loud. This has to be the most lopsided deal ever.

I agree it is a drop-off, but they dumped the salary of the guy that was preventing them from any other significant upgrades. Soriano is a much, much better acquision than Manny Ramirez would have been. He has an entire career of 40-40 seasons ahead.

If Giambi finds his stride again, the lineup (save for second base) will resemble what you see at an All-Star game.

On the flip side - if they don't go all the way, they'll be goats...

Yeah, but that's the way it always is --- it goes with the territory. Anything less than a WS title is failure. ....and that's the way I like it.

I live in NY, and I have seen a lot of the Yankees. Soriano is VASTLY overrated. Did you see the guy in the playoffs? He is horrible defensively and has no plate discipline whatsoever. And Soriano will have not have nearly the protection in the Rangers lineup that he had in NY. If you think this trade is good in any way for Texas, I have some swampland to sell you.

Soriano does have some value, Ramirez would have been replacing one anchor with another.
A couple of used bats and shag balls would have been adequate compensation for A-Rod as long as that salary goes away.

Yankees haven't won a World Series since Hillary Clinton won the Senate.

It's the ONE good thing she's ever accomplished!

After the season?
We are only halfway through this season and they appear well on the road to implosion.

You guys are comedians. Youre actually happy about this? Now I know how the situation in baseball has gotten so bad.

I know, but that's when all the fun *really* starts. Besides Kobe leaving (and that's gonna happen, even if it's not in shackles and an orange jumpsuit), Phool Jackson looks to be on his way out. More time to boff the boss's daughter, I s'pose... ;)
