That's some kind of fish!
Busy day here too...must do school and then start dinner (chicken roasted in the oven) at 2:30 so we can eat early...church starts at 6pm.
Have a great day 2J! Will try and check in later tonight...

I wanna catch a big catfish SO BAD!! I love catfish and I would love to bread it up and present some of it to my friend Celeste! (She can't eat anything that looks like it was ever alive at one point...isn't that funny?? Her hubby is such an avid hunter...the one that takes Steve with him.)
I just love catfish and I never get enough...I figure if I caught one of these really big catfishes, I might have enough to eat of it!

Yeah, I think the little Zebco might not be enough for an 87 pounder, 2J.
Not sure what you'd need for it. In the ocean, one would want at least 50 lb test for a grouper of that size, and 80 is likely better. OTOH, if catfish fight like sailfish, and expend all their energy leaping and making lightning surface runs (which they don't), then 30 lb line would do it, and even 20 has a good chance.
In any event, I hope you get a big one.

It was so great to talk to WN last night. It cheered me up just hearing a friendly voice, more especially a Hobbit Holers' friendly voice! She even tolerated my swooning over having second row to Clay Aiken this Saturday! A true friend, that! I think we are gonna have to talk on the phone more often! I have lots of minutes. And I always just hate to call you after I get off work cause I don't want to wake Becky and Allison. But, you need to stay up to date in the Hobbit Hole... and I need to stay up to date on your man Clay! :-)

Did he say anything on the thread before stepping away?
Glad he's coming back.

Yeah...I copied and pasted it into another window and saw it...a good thing it didn't work, that's a gigantic picture!
Still I think that's what I saw...not so shiney looking though!

It shows up if you go to the properties...just doesn't link.
But it's a hugh picture, anyway...so it's probably just as well. Woulda been a slow load for people on dial-up, and we do still have a few...
I got to ride in a big helicopter once! Don't remember the model, though. Army big long one like a flying bus. It was in Italy, just as the sun was going down, and we were flying right along the coast of the Adriatic Sea...just gorgeous.

The copter is a Boeing CH46 "Chinook". That shiney finish was a mid 70's Navy paint scheme. They're all done in flat OD now. The first time I refueled one of those, it was riddled with patched bullet holes. It was an obvious Viet Nam veteran.

Wow! It makes a pretty hefty thunking sound, doesn't it! I could hear it a long ways off...seems like it moves the air around you almost...not wind but soundwaves.

Hey, Sam...
I thought about hiring a guide...just to take me out for say, 4 hours...just to get an idea of what I need to do. I don't want him to sing to me or tell me any tales or stories...I just want him to teach me what to do. What kind of equipement to get to catch a big paddlefish or catfish.
You think that's a good idea?
Then I figure for special occassions...We could rent a boat!
Not now, of course...but someday in the future after Steve finishes school.

Guess what!
You know how I was talking about wanting to go noodling? Well, blow me down if Steve doesn't have a PROFESSIONAL noodler in his class at school!
Steve's going to talk to him...see if we can tag along on his next trip.
Guy says they use old water heaters to give the catfish a place to hide.
Water heaters.

Yes, 2J, I think guides, even though expensive, can be a good idea, because you can learn more in a couple hours from a good one than you might in years otherwise. After all, the guy is there fishing most every day, and if he weren't good at it, he wouldn't be able to stay in business.
Yeah, it can be money well spent, IMO, you might learn things that could pay off forever.
But there are good and bad guides, so ask around a little.
A paddlefish!
That would be cool, those things are so primevil looking.

I threw an old water heater in the bay once for snapper. There was already a volkswagon on that spot. Can't find the spot anymore, Hurricane Andrew flattened the ranges. Probably destroyed our little artificial reef too, for all I know. It was a good snapper spot for awhile, though.
