Yeah, I think the little Zebco might not be enough for an 87 pounder, 2J.

Not sure what you'd need for it. In the ocean, one would want at least 50 lb test for a grouper of that size, and 80 is likely better. OTOH, if catfish fight like sailfish, and expend all their energy leaping and making lightning surface runs (which they don't), then 30 lb line would do it, and even 20 has a good chance.

In any event, I hope you get a big one.

Hey, Sam...

I thought about hiring a guide...just to take me out for say, 4 hours...just to get an idea of what I need to do. I don't want him to sing to me or tell me any tales or stories...I just want him to teach me what to do. What kind of equipement to get to catch a big paddlefish or catfish.

You think that's a good idea?

Then I figure for special occassions...We could rent a boat!

Not now, of course...but someday in the future after Steve finishes school.
