The copter is a Boeing CH46 "Chinook". That shiney finish was a mid 70's Navy paint scheme. They're all done in flat OD now. The first time I refueled one of those, it was riddled with patched bullet holes. It was an obvious Viet Nam veteran.

Wow! It makes a pretty hefty thunking sound, doesn't it! I could hear it a long ways off...seems like it moves the air around you almost...not wind but soundwaves.
