The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Dunno 'bout a black sound, exactly ... but definitely, unashamedly Southern.

Lookin' Out My Back Door

Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch.
Imagination sets in, pretty soon I’m singin’ ---

Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.

There’s a giant doing cartwheels, a statue wearin’ high heels.
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn!
A dinosaur Victrola list’ning to Buck Owens ---

Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won’t you take a ride on the flyin’ spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Wond’rous apparition provided by magician.

Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won’t you take a ride on the flyin’ spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Bother me tomorrow, today, I’ll buy no sorrows.

Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.

Forward troubles illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
Bother me tomorrow, today, I’ll buy no sorrows.

Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.

Yep. Exactly. Matthew is just enthralled with it and I love reading it because it was one of my favorites when I was a kid.

I have so much I look forward to reading to them...I will read a Hardy Boys book next, but I thing A Wrinkle in Time is coming soon. Matthew kinda reminds me of Charles Wallace.

Are you planning to homeschool, eventually, or just use it to supplement?

Hey, Soupy! You figured out your password?

I'm about half asleep. Need to get to bed, but there are so many interesting threads right now...

Oy, Soupy-kun! Nice to see you!

Almost done with SP... I'm holding the last four episodes for emergencies, and I sent cookies to Rosie et al on Saturday.

I really liked Madeline L'Engle's books. My favorite was one that wouldn't really be right for younger kids, though - A Swiftly Tilting Planet. More for teenagers.

Been years since I read those.

*sip* Tea almost gone.

I'll see you in the morning!

My tea is gone, and I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open, so I'm signing off, too.

I was just sitting here remembering a Bible verse that Joshua used to say when he was 3 years old.

"God love us, sent him Son...First John 4:10"

That was just how he said it...I'll never forget it.

If I am not at home, most of it will go with me to school. If I stay home, I will be homeschooling. I have everything I need to teach elf-boy next year, except for math (which I am wishy washy about anyway. Can't decide my math goals for him yet). I have done it before with elf-boy, but never on a full scale. Just have to find all of it in all the mess. (Note to self: need more bookshelves!)

I am pretty lucky in my experience so far. I have been teaching in a classical environment where there was actually more than one curriculum standard (not just the state minimum like other schools).

When I said black sound I was thinking more about, "Travelin' Band","Proud Mary", "Bad Moon Rising", "Susie Q", "Down On The Corner",

"Lookin' Out My Back Door" is more white.

Read the newest insurance woes while I was at school working. And we thought all that was straightened out last week. Sorry you've still got problems with 'em. Can't explain that whole business - I wonder myself whether it's really worth the trouble.

I'm going to bed. Sorry, but I've got a really long day tomorrow. See you then?
