The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

WE WON THE SAG!!!!!
I've been dying to say that ever since I got a chance to watch the awards show last night. I still can't quite believe it, because this is finally more of an acknowledgement that there is far more than just fancy special effects to these movies.
Now that I have that off my chest...
I was embarrassed for Sean, but grateful to JRD, and I loved Billy Boyd talking about what he was doing before LOTR and now being in the same room with Clint Eastwood, etc. I bet the rest of the cast are kinda kicking themselves for not being there (except for Viggo, of course)...

And from the library I got a big Wodehouse book and the one Rex Stout book they had that I hadn't read. You like Nero Wolfe, too? :) My Mom had a bunch of those when I was growing up, but sold most of them off; I inherited the ones that are left, which are And Four to Go and Gambit. I liked the recent TV adaptation, too--was sorry to see it go off the air.

I actually never knew there was a wheelbarrow with a disc brake before. That is a new one on me. And yes, it is very cool... but I dunno about the coolest thing I ever saw. I mean, it has no motor. Needs a V-Twin at the very least! (I guess a small block V-8 would be overkill on a wheelbarrow huh?)

I have a working theory that time is not a constant. It really does speed up and slow down.Reminds me of something Steven Wright once said: "One time I put instant coffee in my microwave and I almost went back in time."
:)

Tea honey. Fedora was talkin' about tea. :-)
I'm not having tea tonight Fedora... gotta get my lesson plan lined out for tomorrow morning and then I'm hittin' the sack. No time to make and enjoy tea right now.

I'm pretty jazzed... just bought one of these today:I coulda used that last summer--had to wheel a few cords of firewood down a big hill a barrel at a time. Might be worth looking into for next summer. How much do those run?

Saturday *night* would be difficult... Rose has to go to work on Sunday.
Would Saturday afternoon/early evening work?

Reminds me of something Steven Wright once said: Once I accidentally stuck my car key in the door to my house... and... it started... so I figured "what the hell..." and I took it around the block a couple of times...
To: Ramius
I didn't occur to you that you might want to haul something *up* the hill one of these days? It never hurts to be prepared you know. And wouldn't that be cool? :-)
Tell me something.... are you taking any time off work after the wedding or are you gonna go right back to work? IOW - are you gonna be mooting with those of us who stay a few extra days?

My friend and I once drove all the way across the country.
We traded driving every half mile. It took two months.
We only had one cassette tape to listen to the whole way. I can't remember what it was.

Good night everyone.

Once I accidentally stuck my car key in the door to my house... and... it started... so I figured "what the hell..." and I took it around the block a couple of times...Then a cop pulled me over for speeding. He said, "Do you know you were going over 60 mph?" I told him to get the h*** off my lawn.
