The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'm glad he was found before it really started getting bad down that way!
So...how did the Boy Scout project go?

Our road is such a mess of ice, potholes, and mud. I hate driving my little car through that...We've got bad frost heaves everywhere here. We were once again discussing at work (jokingly) how they need to grade the things...right now there are the occasional signs saying "bump", but bump can mean anything from a minor ripple to a car swallowing, muffler eating pothole.
The worst ones on the back roads sometimes have a homemade sign...when you see those, you know to slow to a crawl or wait until you can go around, and hope the other side of the road is better...which isn't always the case.

Our road is bot well cared-for, because it's a state road and they only send a plow through when they feel like it. Just before our driveway, there's a little dip where water pools. Sometimes the ice there is six inches thick.

It went well. Only one other mom showed up and we worked on the stuff for a while, then the boys checked out the chickens and played with Star Wars stuff.

If nothing else, you had a chance to show off your spotless house!
To: 2Jedismom
He was on this morning and afternoon....didn't say anything about the snow...
To: RosieCotton
What was nice is that I didn't have to fret over it! At all! I just did my normal stuff and it was good! I'm very happy about that...stuff like this would just freak me out...stress me totally out because I'd have to work so hard to get my house presentable.
I'm enjoying a tin of smoked oysters and a coke.

What's it like where you are? You may have said, but I've been in and out of the Hole sporadically!
Got that package sent to the guy in Afghanistan, though...

I think the snow from that part of the world is making it up here later this week. We're supposed to get up to eight inches. Nothing like what we got in December...but I don't wanna shovel. Takes away from my breakfast time, for one!
I've been spoiled over the last few weeks...no snow, and I've been able to get up every morning and have a real, cooked breakfast.

Light snow and a little ice....not too bad.
To: Overtaxed
Well, that's good.
The boys are watching the Adventures of Wallace and Grommit, eating JiffyPop...you know? With the big tinfoil top that swells up. They were watching it and had never seen it (I've been remiss) and Joshua started screaming like it was an alien when it started swelling up!
Pretty dang funny.

Ice...yuck.
Need to get laundry started. At least nothing in the basement is frozen today! It was warm...it the low thirties.
To: RosieCotton
ARGH!! I left the clothes on the line!
Well, I just checked and it's supposed to be clear tomorrow.
They can just wait.

Speaking of neatness...guess I'm doomed...
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1069892/posts?page=141#141 Funny thing to check first about a girl, in my opinion. But then...I guess for someone who can't stand untidiness, that WOULD be a major factor, I suppose. I wouldn't never date someone that uptight, though!
OK, NOW getting that laundry started. Be back later.

I know exactly how you feel...I get 10 minutes to Freep in the morning, and sometimes 10 more minutes in the evening.
All those 19th and 20th century reforms to make it so you don't have to work every waking hour...something bad happened to 'em.
To: 2Jedismom
I'm being lazy...chilling with the cat listening to a little Dvorak. I don't want to do the dishes!
To: Overtaxed
Dishes are evil. Leave 'em to rot.
