The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

No, I didn't--thanks for the info! Great job! :) Our church sends stuff over there periodically, too. How often do you do that?

I was so mad when they slighted the first movie! At least this time it looks like the movie will get its due, though I feel Sean Astin should've also gotten nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Have to go now, time for dinner.

Yes, Astin was good... Miranda Otto could have been nominated if Jackson hadn't edited her part with a bloody axe...

Well, the bulkhead is all done....
Dad decided there will really need to be a step at the side by the dock.... but they won't know where and how big of a step until Dad builds a new landing for the dock ramp. So.... Ramius... Dan may have to meet you for a drink to pick up the last rock.
Here is how it turned out! (I really am tempted to wash it all down with a hose, but I haven't yet!)
We will finish this with stepping stones...

Well, the troops I was sending to have come home. Now we're sending items to a
group of guys in Iraq! Wneighbor coordinates this and I think she is in the process of sending out a batch really soon.
Donations are graciously accepted. They help with the purchase of special items like knives, flashlights, all sorts of goodies...and especially with postage. That really can take a lot of funds.
We have a troll here in the Hobbit Hole...used to razz us no end...but he found out about our care package project and pitched in too!

I didn't hear about that--what happened with that? The scene where Eowyn kills the Lord of the Nazgul has the best lines in the book, IMO.

That is AWESOME! What an incredible piece of construction!

Well, removing her scenes after the Pelennor Fields leaves her character just hanging. And rips out the nice little romance she and Faramir have, though movie-Faramir's a bit of a jerk and might not really deserve her. But if they'd left that in, she might have got Supporting Actress, at least.

Sniff, sniff.
At Entmoot, Rosie and I had to go to the Barnes and Nobles to look up that passage because nobody brought an RotK! Faramir is *such* a romantic...

Wow! It's gorgeous!!!
I'm not sure I understand the bit about the landing for the dock, but I'll call later and we can chat about it.
Does it feel right? It sure looks good from the pictures...
To: HairOfTheDog
That's too bad he's not stepping it back any more. Those look like real good rocks for sitting on! Maybe they don't want to encourage that though, for fear someone will dislodge them.

Thanks for the info! I bookmarked the page. Don't know that I'll be able to get anything ready for the next batch if it's going out soon, but I'll see what I can do for next time around.

Rocky mountain highThat song always reminds me of the weekend I met SSQ! We both played guitar for our respective parish Folk Mass groups, and we met at a Music Ministry workshop. In the evening after the first session, the whole group of folks sat around playing and singing, and that was one of the songs I remember the best.

It bugged me that they changed Faramir from the book and didn't complete the Eowyn/Aragon/Faramir subplot. That and cutting out Christopher Lee's scene were two of my biggest complaints.

I'm glad to be home!Glad you made it safely! It's scary when things like that happen that are totally out of your control!
How about a cup of coffee?

LOL I had a cup with my bagel!
Fixin' supper now. I'm the QUEEN of making Hamburger Helper! I just learned that if you add the powdered strogonoff package to the browned hamburger, it adheres to the hamburger. Then put the noodles in on top of that, then pour in the liquids.
The powder doesn't clump up that way.
It's a major cooking breakthrough for me.

If they had to beef up Eowyn's crush on Aragorn, they ought to have closed it off. And don't get me started on Faramir. Someone suggested to me that Jackson and company just don't quite understand nobility and I think they might be right...
