The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Yes, very nice indeed....

Well, another four weeks and I should have all my offers. But it's really, really nice to know I can go somewhere, and afford to go somewhere, no matter what. It can only get better than here.

Oh, yeah :) Got it stuck in my head already. Gotta try to find a download now. . .

To me it looks like he's trying to hold his breath until he turns blue, in that picture.

ecurbh photoshopped him with a pic of James Carvile:

LOL! I could see that :)

BTW, in your tagline, who are we trying to free Mars *from*?--that's what I'm wondering now. I have an image of the people from Planet X in the Ghidrah-vs.-Godzilla movies. . .Or I guess it could be the Venusians. Hope it's not the Plutonians--I've heard it on good authority that Pluto is bad news: it's a Mickey-Mouse planet. . .

Unfortunately it was overrun by thirteen year old girls in 2001...

LOL! I think that's when Clare started frequenting the place, and she was 13 then!

Maybe he's advertising the handout of Mars Bars to all and sundry?

Hmmm... which fandom was she in?

I'm sure she could spell, though. And doubt she had swoons like - I'll stop now...

"Free Mars!" is a Babylon 5 reference (I'm in a Babylon 5 mood today...) In the series, Mars has been colonized from Earth, and is still controlled by Earth. Many Marsies resent that, however, and strive for independence. "Free Mars!" is both a rallying cry, and the name of the largest group fighting for independence from Earth.

LOL!! I actually like Willow!

I got my first grad school acceptance notice!

Woo Hoo!! Great news, especially about the financial stuff. I'm sure you've already breathed a BIG sigh of relief to know that at least you got THAT one in the bag!

Well, I think that if this school is offering me this much, it means I'm a good candidate, and maybe a better school will offer me something similar....

And if not, well, I can live in Colorado!

Hmmm--sounds like that's advocating an interplanetary rebellion against the forces of Milky Way:

"The more you tighten your grip, Lord Vader, the more candy bars slip through your fingers."

"You don't know the power of the dark chocolate! Obi-wan never told you what happened to your father."

"He told me enough! He told me *you* killed him."

Vader rips off his mask, revealing the face of a giant M&M underneath. "No, Luke: *I* am your father."

"NOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

Oh, Rosie, you'd like Colorado. Might be a little too 'wide open spaces' in some areas, but the mountains are wonderful!

Thanks, that explains it :) Sounds like I'm gonna have to catch up on my Babylon 5 references!

She says it was fanfiction.net. She never wrote anything, just lurked; mostly in Digimon and Cardcaptor Sakura

Uh-oh, I've started a Willow war, LOL! When my friend and I are trying to get under each others' skin, we accuse each of other of secretly liking Willow. I bought him the Willow novel for his birthday, to get him back for buying me a New Kids on the Block action figure in high school.

I'm still leary of big cities, though. Gotta remember that the "big town" around here (where I live) has just over 6000 people. No matter where I go (if I go anywhere at all, ever) it's gonna be a culture shock, pretty much guaranteed.

I wasn't into anime at that point, so I wouldn't know any of the people she'd have known...

Almost time for class...

Today is draaaaaagging.

Break starts this weekend (though staff still works) so it's really slow here! And we can't get started on the break stuff (loading stuff in the computer labs and all) until people are gone.

Grrr...
