The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Well, we thought about going to watch the game at the Alamo Drafthouse, but it was first-come-first-served, and Rose was working until 5:00, so we didn't think we could get there in time.

Score is Patriots 14, Panthers 10. Halftime!

Not watching the game here either.

Just got back from water-heater-shopping. Didn't get beat up but the credit card is gonna feel some major pain tomorry when we pick it up.

Then we went to the grocery store. Came back and Luke, who had been at the computer the entire time we were gone had not had dinner and had an accident in his pants. 'Course Aunt and Jr. were in the next room the whole time...grrr....

*wondering if I'm missing by not watching the Super Bowl*

Not much. The halftime show was... uhmm... not much really. I'm guessing that most of the bubba's around the country that watch football... don't care much about P.Diddy and Justin Timberlake and the like. Not too many teenage girls are football fans.

Kid Rock is OK though.

I hope I've given up on the game but I have a feeling voices will be calling me back soon... besides I have to put together my lunch for tomorrow. Oh well. I feel clean now that I've had a shower and I certainly can't be sent back out! Not with wet hair and it takes forever to dry...

Hey Suzi! Hope you and your family are all well and warm.

Wn, thank God the family is now all here. This IS a major answer to prayer.

It is good to look back at what He has done within less than a year. Really good when, like today, it feels like things are not moving at all. You know He is working in our lives and in that of our families.

The halftime show was... uhmm... not much really.

On the other hand, it looks like Janet Jackson is naturally endowed.

Not much.

Well, that's a relief! :-D

Well, you're right about the bubba part. But, when I was a teenage girl I was a rabid football fan. Kinda grew out of that somewhere alone the line though.

Actually, it didn't turn out that badly.

All the male tenors were singing the second tenor part, so they put me and two other altos on the first tenor part. Sight-reading in the lower register when you're used to singing in the treble clef ain't the easiest thing on earth, I have an advantage because I play keyboard so at least I've SEEN the bass clef before -- but I had to drag the other two altos by the ears, they kept wandering back to the alto part. Lord knows I was doing that myself in first rehearsal on Thurs night, but I took the music home and played it over and over again until I had beaten the alto part out of my head. The problem with this piece (Durufle's Ubi Caritas) is that the harmony parts don't make sense - there's a lot of dissonance and parts moving against each other, so it IS hard to stay on your line. You can't stop listening to the other parts, of course, but you have to hear yours in your head and stick to it.

My husband was down in the south transept and said it really sounded good. (The acoustics in this sanctuary are great, if you like ancient music - about a seven second hang time so far as I could tell.) So everything worked out all right.

Beats me.... looked normal from this end. But, I'm not sure normal is normal here either.

Scratching in the right place yet?

That halftime show was horrible! We were thankful we'd sent the boys away... yuck, wish I hadn't seen some of that.
