The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I like that one. I've got it on video... pretty old though and it's got some bad spots on it. Haven't thought about replacing that with a DVD yet. Somehow, I always have to be bundled up well when I watch it.... makes me cold it does! :-)

Yes, that one's already in the computer somewhere, it's actually a pastel drawing, but a fairly large one, 40" high or so, I got around 30 hours in it. I was just looking in the computer for it, but don't remember what file I put it in.
I'll put the other one up for sure, soon's I remember how.
If you guys think JimRob will let me put up a drawing with a naked female in it, I could post it. She is riding along in a train.
It's only a little racy, but I'm pretty sure if my sister in law sees it, she'll smack me.

I'm gonna leave your decision as to whether to post the photo up to you and Ramius. I have no clue. It would not offend me. But others might look at it differently - for no apparent reason. I would love to see some of your artwork myself!

Long Kiss Goodnight appeals to me also, it is one of the few movies I own.
For instance, the scene where the Volvo catches on fire after hitting a deer is vey cool. Also where the guy gets blown through the electric sign. Some of those signs are made of lexan, which is not really breakable, but no doubt that particular motel saved a dollar on their signage.

Hi there! (better late than never, eh?)
;)
To: Sam Cree
You could always just post a link to the picture, rather than the picture itself.

Thanks for the encouragement, you guys.
I hope anyone will actually like my stuff, once I post it.
I was just very excited tonight.
I'm going to Syracuse Thursday to visit my daughter, on whom the sun, moon and stars set. I can't wait to see her, but I almost hate to leave the painting behind. Acutally, it's no contest, Alex wins in a walk, but still.

As an aside, when I was a teenager, my Grama had me work on art with a friend of hers who was a local painter. The lady became a great friend and mentor for me and truly helped me through some of that junk that had happened in my childhood. A wonderful woman. But, I would go to her home to work on my art skills... and yet, I think the real strategy was for me to overcome junk. However, I did work on drawing.
This weekend as I was going through photos and stuff to hang on my walls I found a folder of pencil sketches I had done back there as a teenager. Kinda shocking. They were not bad. Kind of thing where I looked at 'em and thought - "NO - I could NOT have done that!" But they were mine. :-)
Oh, reason I never pursued art was that the lady died of colon cancer when I was in high school. After her death I never wanted to pick up anything and draw again. But one very cool thing. When I was 18 months old Grama had her do a portrait of me. Before Grama died she had me bring that portrait home. It hangs in the bedroom here that used to be Grama's room cause it always hung over her bed at her house.

I'm glad you got it!! You might want to double check to make sure that you have enough 'juice' in that outlet, and in the extension cord. I think SSQ installed a more 'powerful' outlet for our treadmill, but it is one with the bells and whistles. Did they give you a user's manual? It should say in there if there are any additional electrical needs.
Aren't you glad you had Van-sama to haul it home? Did you have to go far to get it?

You should take art up again, if you like it.
It's lots of fun, truthfully, and you meet lots of nice people, even if some of 'em are reasonably weird.
