The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'll be doing hot wings for tonight. Guess I should be good and prep some celery for celery and cream cheese stuff. I'll have fresh bread and I can always pop some popcorn.

I am back and catching up OS. I'm sorry to hear that Samantha has crossed that Bridge.

I am glad though, for the time and the many wonderful walks she had with you and LSA.

Yes, thank you. Had an excellent trip. Didn't get pi$$ed off until we gots home. ;-)

Apparently the hot water went out on Thursday but they didn't bother to tell us until yesterday. I coulda already had it replaced. As it is my neighbor came over and reset it, so we should be good for a day or two 'til we can get a new one. He'll help me install it since I R Ignorant about such things.

Wife and I hadn't been home 12 hours afore we wanted to go away again (and that included sleepin' and church). But Nana's surgery is Tuesday and we're sendin' the sister home for a sabbatical...for us. Nana will be in the hospital and rehab for about 5-6 weeks.

Waitin' now to see if the water heats up. If it don't I'm gonna go to the gym and work out so I can get a shower before the Super Bowl. Otherwise I'll just go in the a.m. since I'm going back on the nazi diet tomorrow.

Glad the trip was good anyhow.

Sorry, I slipped off for my Sunday afternoon nap there.

I dunno why but forever at my old house I had a hot water heater that was my nemesis. Seemed like every year about the 2nd or 3rd real cold spell the thermocouple went out. I got kinda good at replacing them but when I married Dennis, the 2nd time it went out he looked at me like I was nuts for replacing it again and went and bought another heater. :-)

That was kinda nice never coming home to NO hot water again after that. :-)

Corin; thank you for the kind words.

Prayers for Nana's Surgery on Tuesday.
Sabbaticals are a good idea most anytime.

Well...on the bright side, there aren't TOO many more things that could possibly need replacing any time soon, right?

Welcome back!

Everyone getting ready for or watching the game? I don't even pick up anything on my TV, so even if I was a fan, I'd have to be elsewhere...which I ain't. But I have the first episode of the BBC version of Nicholas Nickleby and some pretty good food. For dinner, I'm making chicken, which again isn't as good as beef...but it was four bucks for a hugh package. Half of it is in the freezer and half is sitting in the fridge in a yogurt sauce with lots of garlic, fresh ginger, onion, and a little sesame oil. Going to cook it up in half an hour or so.

Plus I have eggses for later this week, and got the GOOD ones. Local. With a better taste and much stronger shells and yolks than the ones from the bigger store. I notice a difference...which is why I keep buggin' 2J about the taste and texture differences she notices with her chickens' eggs.

And sausage was the special this week - again, local stuff, from a place that makes really good stuff. Life is good.

OK, so I get rather over-excited about groceries. It's not a bad thing to get a lot of joy out of the stupid, simple things in life, is it? ;-)

Did I mention I even got sardines in mustard, from the company 2J likes? Those'll be a treat!

I happen to think groceries are fun! I'd go shopping more often if'n it didn't mean going to ~town~.

Nope, not watching the game here. Just got back from my walk, and Hair is out cleaning stalls. Got Arsenic and Old Lace from Netflix, and will watch that soon.

MMMmmmm.... I like groceries too! And prolly the only kind of shopping I don't mind is grocery shopping.

of course, i did get beat up doing that yesterday... *sigh*

That whole Netflix thing sounds cool. I wish I had Arsenic and Old Lace here to watch too. I watched Conspiracy Theory and Rush Hour earlier today.

Town...*shudder*

Luckily for me, there's a small grocery store just a coupla blocks away...if you can call them blocks. They don't have a GREAT selection, but it's decent.

I like that movie! Been a little while since I've seen it, though. Kinda ODed on it a few years ago, so I haven't wanted to watch it for a bit. Cary Grant is great it it.

Dinner's almost done...just waiting for the chicken. Also have carrots with butter and dill, and rice. Yum!

Grocery shopping can be hazardous to your health!

Watching the game?

I've been having a lot of fun with cooking lately. Since I'm trying to save money, I'm buying more fresh ingredients than usual and preparing meals ahead of time for work and such. I love experimenting, so this has been a good thing!
