The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Da Bear literally pulled at his hair and whined, loudly, when I was watching two mis-matched presenters do their thing.

I'm with Bear! But, also you! I woulda been laughing myself silly to see that! :-)

My mother is still trying to clear out the sewing room, err, gunroom. At least the gunsafe has finally been moved into the garage. It is a start. I don't think, though, that the carpet will ever be the same, as that is where dad measured out all the gunpowder for his shells. We always called it the sewing room, but actually, no sewing has ever taken place in there. It was always guns in there, LOL.

BTW, speaking of sewing... did I ever mention that my dad was a Viking dealer in the 70's? Recently, I said something to my mother about grandmother having a Singer. She about had a cow. "We (as in not a soul in the entire family) have NEVER had Singers." She vehemently replied to me.

That's funny! I have a Singer though. It's VEY old. My den is so big that it's a den/sewingroom/computer room all in one. Uh, and room with stacks of stuff to go through right now. Funny how it looked pretty good till I decided to work on these other rooms. Then, everything that needs going through got stacked in the floor in there.

However! I can see the end here finally! Yea!

Well, don't just drop it based on my opinion. That was just my first thought.

I'm not, but I don't hear a lot of cheering for the idea, either. It will depend on whether there is feedback from anyone else here.

ugh! I feel your pain. I have stacks upon stacks of things to go through (mostly in the dining room), and have not yet had the energy to do it.

Well, I have to admit it. I am officially doing the waddle.

I dunno, my granny was still havin kiddos when my grandpa (her oldest son) had my mom and her brother and sister.

Most of my mother's first cousins are my age. Makes for confusing family reunions.

I keep thinkin' that I might ought to look into becoming a foster parent... but, I don't want to deal with the red tape that goes with that. Still... it would be a way to have kids around. I'd just still like to have another kid of my own. Might not always get along with the ones I've got now but they're darn fine wimmin! An asset to the world.

My great grandmother was the same way. And I've got an uncle on my dad's side who's only 5 years older than me. Myranda would be tickled pink if I met someone and had another little sibling for her. Jill keeps saying, "Forget it mom!"

What are ya'll doin' next weekend? I am supposed to go to a motorcycle rally - but, I don't want to go and would try to get out of it if I had a good reason.

Yeah, it is really funny when I talk about granny, and mom's cousins talk about granny. They know my mother is their first cousin, but assume that since I am their age, that she was my grandma, not my greatgrandma. Heck, mom has first cousins younger than me!

Granny had 8 kiddos in all ~wow~ I cannot imagine having children at the same time my children are having children. The age difference between my grandpa and aunt Trudy (his sister) is 26 years. Aunt Trudy is younger than my mother.

I've always thought it was funny that my grama gave birth to her first child 2 weeks after her mom gave birth. Grama rode the train from Meridian out to Abilene to be with her mom then came home and had her first baby.

Sad though, Grama had 3 babies but my mom was the only one who lived. Other 2 died at birth. Still, I was the oldest of the oldest of the oldest and I've like your cousins. It's assumed that great-grama was my grama cause I'm older than them and she was their grandma. There's a whole passel of her grandkids younger than great-grandkids. LOL

I keep remindin' myself that I'm still younger than she was when she had her last kid though.....

Naaa. not superstitious. Only have to go to work for 2 hours then I can come home, lock the doors and hide in my room with a book. Maybe nothing bad will happen there! LOL
