The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

We sang this today in church. I love this song.

The Power of Your Love
(Geoff Bullock)

Lord I come to You
Let my heart be changed, renewed
Flowing from the grace
That I’ve found in You
Lord I’ve come to know
The weakenesses I see in me
Will be stripped away
By the power of Your love

Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side
And as I wait
I’ll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love

Lord unveil my eyes
Let me see You face to face
The knowledge of Your love
As You live in me
Lord renew my mind
As Your will unfolds in my life
In living every day
By the power of Your love

(repeat chorus twice)

And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love
(repeat)

I'd go through that stuff VEY carefully, Corin ... people don't usually give up their petty little power plays without a good reason ...

Hangin' in there, you?

Sent out a bunch of resumes over the last few days, hoping that I'll hear something back, anything, next week. Meanwhile, I'm scrapin', paintin', and buildin' with my buddy.

All of this hinges on whether or not I'll get unemployement. With luck, I'll know something early next week...I hate all this waiting. If I can get it, we'll be ok until I can find something full-time in my area. If not, I'll mop floors 3rd shift if I have to. Whatever it takes for us to be able to keep the house, you know?

In other news, I signed on to be a chaperone to my church's youth group weekend retreat to Mt. Monadnock at the end of this month. So, that'll be pretty cool.

I'll get to drive a big van. A really big van. With big cup-holders.

What's new wit'chew?

Maybe you shoulda found a different realtor lady. I woulda been more pleased with a house without all painted walls white! I like color.

Good thing though, 2 rooms are paneled. One of 'em real wood! I like that! That one was my former bedroom and will now be the library. That's actually the coolest looking room in the house. It's just VEY small.

When I look at houses, I don't really care about the color of the walls...I want some architecture!

Our church mentions on the large screen before service starts to put cellphones on silence or either turn it off. Most do...

Yep. I know whacha mean. I looked for that here too but didn't get the one house I loved! They got a better offer on the same day I made mine. *sigh* I still look at that house when I drive by.

This one was good for us because it was set up perfectly for Grama to move in with us AND for Myranda to have her youth group over here a lot. Got 2 large living areas. And, the other house was split level so it wouldn't have been good for Grama... but, I was gonna improvise if I'd gotten it! It also had 2 living areas. There was one bedroom and bathroom on the lower living area level which Grama coulda used. Trouble was she'd have had to go up 4 steps to the kitchen. We coulda done somethin'.

Hey, Rose... I've been reading a couple of the Alan Dean Foster "Flinx" books you recommended, and enjoying them heartily, though I think I've got them out of order! But they are fun.

Heh, our church doesn't use a screen (pastor doesn't like 'em) and, um, most people behave themselves. Unfortunately that doesn't always happen.

OT: so what kind of architecture you looking for, prairie, true ranch, two story, southwest, bungalow? Pretty much everything round these parts.

WN; that's one of the reason we have three hammers, four utility knives, three tape measures, two chalk lines.....

corin; no comments from me on the 'you know what' I seen whut happens. :-)

I'm back!

Did you know? Matthew is selling his eggs. A lady at church is buying a half dozen a week. Matthew's putting the proceeds toward the new building.

Right now most of the stuff I'm seeing is new construction "McHouses", boxes with tiny windows in the back or Victorians. One of those boxes came with 5 acres and a barn....Miss Cat wasn't too thrilled at the suggestion that she become a barn cat.

My wife asked me why the news media doesn't focus on Americans supporting our troops like Rick and his group. I had to tell her, dear, good stuff from pro-American Americans isn't news to the news media.

An aquaintance of mine works for a local newspaper. I was chatting with her the other day and mentioned the Hobbit Hole and stuff we've sent to the troops. She told her boss, and that lady might call me in a week or two to do a story on it! I gave Dawna the website for the Troops Project so that her boss could find out about it before she calls me. If she does the story, I'm going to stress how important it is that folks who know people serving over there keep in touch with them and send them a little something now and then for themselves and to share with the others in their platoons, etc.
