The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Just teasin' ya. I gotta get back to werk.
Was sittin' here chattin' with the Mrs. about Dr. Nana and Grandma Hyde...
Had a whole "episode" this past week about the fact that we sent the potty chair home (the one we told them not to bring). Wife is firmly telling Nana and all the medical professionals that if Nana cannot get up from the toilet as is she cannot get up from any seat in our house.
That includes the dinner table, her recliner, the $4,000 chair lift...
And the Mrs. (not Corin) has said "if she cannot do that, she cannot live here."
I'll check in later.

Good morning! Ironically, I never was a big fan of Aerosmith...though I like their stuff a lot better than anything I'm hearing these days.
I was usually a tad more esoteric in my rock tastes...

Good for Mrs Stormhands! They'll try to send her home from Rehab before she's ready if you let 'em.

I gotta go...from what I understand, this school is open today! I'm gonna call and at least see if I can get an appointment.
'Sides, Steve'll be home soon, I think it was supposed to take about an hour.
Expect me when you see me!

Mornin'!
Spent a coupla hours on the phone with Myranda this morning.
Interesting..... my mom and dad have gone on vacation for a week and left her alone.... with a house full of food, various drinks of the alcohol variety, cash and a car.
She said she thought about having a party but that would just be wrong.
Huh?

It's sunny here too. I'm working on flyladying a bit and then I'm gonna see if it's dried out enough to go out and get my beds cleaned out for this season.
I got all messed up with that stuff with that crazy student and forgot to tell you that when I went to take out trash Thursday I saw little lemon balm leaves coming up! I'm SO excited. It did great all year last year but I was concerned about whether it would winter here. It did!!! :-)
I can see little lemon verbena and mint leaves down under the mulch in their beds as well. Spring is definitely about here! :-)

I just got my two sample EMT shears. They'll sell us the standard $2.95 ones for $2.20. Mine is just like any other, a tool that can come in handy, and doesn't cost much. If we get them, they will have the black handles.
I also got one of the fancier kinds, which sells for $10.95. It might be a great little item for a tool box or survival kit. But it's got a lot of sharp edges, and would definitely have to be carried in some sort of sheath. It's definitely overkill for what our troops need.
Still, if you're interested in it, it has a saw blade, can opener, screwdriver, wire strippers, notched cutter, oxygen valve wrench, and lid grippers. If anyone wants one, I can order it along with the regular snips.
I'm thinking of buying 50 shears, and will start sending them out with the knives. You folks that are making up your own care packages might want to include some, too. Let me know how many, and I'll mail them to you.

No one to moot with,
All by myself,
No one to walk with,
But I'm happy on the shelf
Ain't misbehavin',
I'm savin' my shoes for you

Today I woke up in a more optimistic mood. Prolly cause the sun is shining so bright. But, I'm looking at this:

I think the shears are a great idea WM. I am out of funds here though so I can't help you with them now. How are you looking on funds at your end?

Seriesly tho, I'm gonna try to make it. Just don't know how.
As for the shoes, they can go to the wedding, but I MUST have them back by July 30. We leave for the beach on July 31.
