The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Someone gave me Luke as a going away gift when I left Germany. I really like that one.
Then my dog ate him.
Sigh.

Oh, I have one other beany. He's a red/white/blue elephant somebody gave me because I knew way too much about politics (back during Bush/Gore. I was lurking at FR all the time but didn't mention that).

I think Clare has both of the white dragons. She was born in the 'Year of the Dragon". Joseph has "Scorch", who is one of my favorites cause he's red!

"Luke" is a cutie! I like "Weenie" the Dachshund; he looks like a doxie we had when I was in high school. Her name was 'Pumpkin' cause she was born just before Halloween and was black with orange markings. She looked like Rosie's Fiona!

Maybe he went back to Iraq...LOL! Not Dubya! I was talking about the college president at the school where Rosie works! He may be off skiing somewhere, who knows? If he is, then Rosie and her co-workers can skiv off and he'll be none the wiser!

It's a she...and she's probably around.
But we're still hopin'...

I just remembered that 'Weenie' is a light brown dachshund Beanie that looks like our doxie Susie. SSQ got me the big one for my birthday a couple of years ago. The beanie that looks like 'Pumpkin' is actually 'Dobie', which is supposed to be a doberman, I guess, but it looks like a doxie puppy. I was confoosed!

Aw, I think Cornbread's a cute name. But then his nickname would be "Corny", which isn't very dignified at all. He is the right color though... either for that, or Lembas.

I believe being Commander In Chief is the part he relished most.

I gave Mom the red dachhund beanie for Christmas a number of years ago. Can't remember if it was Weenie or another name.

Ok...prepare yourself for a mind-numbingly stupid question that I don't know the answer for and couldn't find on the internet.
If I want to get my fingernails manicured once in a while...like for Mother's day or something, what would I ask for in the nail salon? I DON'T want polish, or false nails or anything unnatural. I just want my nails trimmed nicely, my cuticles dealt with properly, and my nails BUFFED to a really high shine. Is there a name for this particular kind of manicure?
Also, I would like to have a professional pedicure too...some day. In that case, I would like the same treatment as for my fingers...trimmed, cuticles made nice, buffed, but then also polished. (PurpleQ, you got me thinkin' about this! LOL)
Walmart has a nail salon and a French Manicure costs $3 and an American Manicure costs $5. Is what I want one of these options?
I considered asking the lady behind the counter, she seemed very nice but she didn't seem to speak very good English (Asian). Also, I was very embarrassed to be so ignorant about these sorts of things.

Be careful not to let them put any fake nails on - and if you do, make sure they don't use MMA, which can kill your nails.

The French manicure means you have to hold your hands up over your head while your nails are drying...
To: JenB
Oh no! I don't want nails at all! Not even my natural ones! I cut them down now almost to the quick...just a little bit of nail ever shows at all!
I mostly have dreadful cuticles and I like having my nails really shiny, but don't like wearing glossy polish. I tend to fiddle with it!
I have found that I constantly fiddle with my nails if I don't keep them buffed, because of the ridges on the tops of them. If I buff out the ridges, I don't fiddle with them!
But I hate hate hate to buff my nails!
