The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hey! They're MY grandkids and I love every one of them! Tom wants a baseball team and I am anxiously awaiting the next 5! I can call 'em a litter if I want to and so can PQ. It may be a southern thing or a Texas thing but it is NO insult to speak of one's children that way here!

I can see your point but the word "litter" isn't meant to offend anyone or be negative. Oh, I know...it's just that people often use it to imply that people who have big families are like animals, and can't control themselves...rather than actually WANTING a bunch.
I want a bunch. Sigh.
To: JenB
And that IS wonderful that your parent made the choice to have a big family. But my Mom can't see and many others can't see that it IS MY CHOICE to only have one. The same way you feel hurt by people who think it is crazy to have a big family, I feel hurt by ones who think I should have more. They do not acknowledge it is MY body not theirs.

Maybe, in the South, it isn't. Maybe in the south, the grocery store workers don't feel it's their duty to tell mothers about birth control, or church people know better than to tell kids their parents are stupid. Up here, it's not that way. I'm probably - no, I know I am - oversensitive. I know you guys don't mean it badly, but it brings up a lot of really nasty memories for me.
On the other hand, I think five children makes a small family.

I've got four bothers myself. Will sell them, really cheap, to anyone who wants 'em...

I like my bothers! Most of the time, anyway.
To: RosieCotton
What's that saying? "You can like some of the bothers all of the time, or all of the bothers some of the time..."
It is cool having someone who's had the same experience I have, to talk to, I must say.

And I have no idea who Carl Wheezer is...
To: RosieCotton
Glad it wasn't just me! Hope it's not some cultural thing that Corin can mock me over again.

freezing rain is evil...Yep, it is, and the weather folks say we're supposed to get 12 to 18 hours of the stuff tomorrow! There might be 1/2" of ice on the roads when it's done! Gotta go to the store tonight to get eggs. Got plenty of bread, milk, sugar and flour. Once that mess starts, I'm not leaving the house!

Well, he'd have to mock me about it too. Apparently, it is a character from Jimmy Neutron, which I have never seen.
To: ecurbh
Oh, dear.
In that case I do know what he's talking about. The littlest bother sometimes watches that show...

We haven't had TV in years...I only recently saw Spongebob for the first time. Definitely hadn't seen the other show.
Ugh...I have a migraine and am really feeling confused and sick. And I'm out of drugs. And I'm about the only one in the office. And we have an instructor coming by soon who needs instructions on setting up and using our mobile lab (which we all detest). It's going to be very, very ugly.
To: RosieCotton
Drink caffeine, NOW. It helps with a lot of migraines.
Spongebob is evil.
