The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Oh P.S. you might wanna remind your mom that she lectured me and told me I was completely flippin' nuts cause Dennis and I were tryin' to have kids.... and Myranda was already - what, like 9 or 10? She scolded me soundly. More than once!

Monty Python rocks!No, it doesn't!
Yes, it does!
No, it doesn't!
Look, this isn't an argument!
Yes it is!
No it isn't... it's just contradiction!
...No it isn't!

Good idea...share yours. Jill has officially had a litter of kidd'os. And the crazy thing is, it isn't like Mom doesn't have a ton of grandkids. She has TWELVE! Between the five of us kids. I guess because the other three had three kids each and Joey had two, it is just pure evil that I only have one!
*good grief*

LOL!

Three isn't a litter... "litter" is never appropriate for people.
Apparently, seven is a "tribe", a "horde", a "herd", and other less flattering words... should ask Rosie, I'm sure she's heard some nasty words for big families.

You know that it is for only one reason that she wants you to have more kids. And while she can't exactly come right out and say it to anyone - I think I can. She wants you to have more kids because YOU are her favorite kid! And because YOU are her favorite, she wants more little YOU'S!!! She would love it if you had a little girl she could spoil rotten in all the ways she wasn't able to spoil you when you were a kid!
Now, if any other kid asks..... I didn't say all that.
Oh, and of course, that's why you get more criticism and ranting from her than any other kid. She likes you best and worries about you more than all the rest.

Four? Drat, I thought it was two girls and the boy... that's right, I remember, three girls, not two.
And it's not a litter. Litter is a really offensive term that gets used against largish family by a lot of ZPG idiots. And people who don't know that it has negative connotations, too.

I agree with Jen, though...I know you guys are just jokin' around, but it isn't exactly a nice term.
Another of the kinda threads I shouldn't read here but do are the ones where people act like no one could possibly INTENTIALLY have more than one or two kids. My parents did...but that's hard for some to comprehend.
To: RosieCotton
Umm...INTENTIONALLY.
To: Wneighbor
aawww thanks! And I hate to be conceited but I think you are right. She has very high expectations of me and I know that but when it come to me have little ones for her. That is were I draw the line :-) She can adopt her grandkids then!

Litter is a really offensive term that gets used against largish family by a lot of ZPG idiots. How 'bout "passel?"
You could have a whole passel of younguns...
To: RosieCotton
Yeah, I suppose we two are probably oversensitive... but honestly, it was my parents' choice to have a big family, and nobody has any right to criticize that choice. We were never on welfare, either, which is something half the "anti-family" folks seem to think.
And there were a lot of people, when I was growing up, who thought that because there were 'so many of us' that it didn't matter if they called me by a sister's name, or a brother by the wrong name, either. And that hurt.

I can see your point but the word "litter" isn't meant to offend anyone or be negative.
I am from a huge family. My Dad is one of 9 kids and my Mom is one of 5. I have 3 bothers and 3 sisters. My family has a lot of kids. It is just what they do. But I didn't. And my family thinks I am mental because I had only one and when he turned two I had by tubes tied.
To: Corin Stormhands
Passel's fine. Most of the words people use are OK. It's just 'litter' that seems to have something patently offensive about it... nobody ever said, "oh, what a nice litter of children you have!"
