The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Oh dear! Rosie, I'm so sorry to hear that! I was in your situation last year, it's an awful feeling when you see that number. :(

Mine too! But I think it's the responsible thing to do.

Morning, Rosie.

Are your sibs not gonna move in?

RE, your guitar, is selling it going to make a real difference, or will it just hold the wolves at bay for a few weeks?

I'm just suggesting that if you are not making payments or something on it, or if it's not actually costing you anything to own it, getting rid of it might not be much help?

I had to pay last year, too. Ugh. I need to figure out why...but like I said, I changed jobs, so I thought things would change.

Right now one of the brothers that could move in doesn't have a job and doesn't seem to have any motivation to GET a job...the other would only move in as a favor to me, and I don't want to do that to him.

RE, your guitar, is selling it going to make a real difference, or will it just hold the wolves at bay for a few weeks?

I think it would make a real difference, as I could pay off many of the things I'm behind on and hopefully also repair the van. I really think if I could just get caught up, I'd have plenty enough to live on. It's all the little things that are due that are pulling me under.

I still wish I could think of another way, but I'm running out of ideas. I DON'T want to borrow any more money from family, since that just adds to what I owe, and I don't think they'd be willing to gift me anything, though I certainly did plenty of that back when I had money.

I aim for paying a couple hundred bucks a year. No sense letting the gubmint use my money interest-free for a year.

Heh...now there's a more postive way to look at it. I like that.

'Course I try not to make it too high. I've heard that if your refund is over $500 that you're not claiming enough exemptions.

PS: Just did my taxes this weekend...those tax cuts are fantastic! It's going to be hard for people to ignore the impact they have on their personal finances!

Didja buy a new muffler yet?

Well, I hope you get it worked out, glad you have the job with the university.

But take a good look at your fixed expenses, the ones you can't control, vs. income, then your discretionary expenses (the ones you can control).

I apologize if I'm saying the wrong thing, but the answer is usually in the math.
