The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I once had a big wolf spider of some kind that I kept in a small birdcage. lol

I also once kept a velvet ant in a cage for about a year or more. Fed it bottle caps of Big Red. he seemed happy. That was scarier than any spider, even the tarantulas we catch around here. Their other name is 'Cow killer'. Very serious, painful bite.

You're the type who loses weight under stress, maybe! Good to hear that. Good job on the run. What are we thinking about next week? Try to increase, or do one more run at the current level?

In my case, I've lost all of two pounds in the last month, ugh. I've still got a long way to go.

Wolf spiders seem to be the most common "capture and keep as a pet" spider, at least in places where we don't have anything bigger. Since they hunt, they're easier to care for...just chuck in a few bugs once in awhile. ;-)

No thanks, though! I did keep crickets once in awhile, usually only for a day or two at a time. It was SO cool as a kid to have a cricket chirping in a bottle in your OWN room, right by the bed! Loud, though.

Heh...I wish! Usually under stress I just up my chocolate and candy intake...but I'm giving it up for now, and there's nothing else that tempts me as much. So may just be a matter of eating better and being more active.

I think I want one more run at the current level. Though...if I feel upbeat on Monday, I might try week 4's workout. Are you planning on going ahead on Monday?

BTW, congratulations on the two pounds! Anything is better than nothing, and you've had to buy new clothes in the last month, in any case, right?

I don't usually go for canned veggies either....except for tomatoes.

Just planted some spinach and lettuce. wonder if I'll get enough of a crop to even mess with.

I put in some - ahem - "crops" and repotted my Chinese evergreen while listening to the Royals game. They're just about as bad as the Cubs.

Well, there's no theatre in this town any more, so I have to take the bus into Vancouver. I went there the weekend before Christmas, but the theatre had published the wrong starting times, so I had 90 minutes to wait, so I went Christmas shopping, then home. I just haven't gotten sufficiently aroused to try again. Now that they've won the Oscar the showings will probably be crowded, so I'll probably wait a couple of weeks for the crowds to die down (and for the next payday to occur!).

God knows, and D knows, and i know too that I did everything I could to make it work out. But also I accept that God might just mean for it to be this way. And that gives me peace. I hope it gives you some too.

I know this about your situation too. :-)

(((My Back Yard)))

I so prayed and wished that this could have worked out for you too. You have a *much* different circumstance. A lot more series thing going on. I so admire the stick-to-itiveness that you've put into this. I can't tell you enough how much I respect your efforts. I know it's been so hard for you. *D* is blessed to have a mom like you, ya know? :-)

*raised eyebrow*

"crops"?

Wish I could get out and garden. Just when it starts to dry up, another thunderstorm comes in and turns the place into vast mudpit. We've tried several times to plant bermuda grass in our backyard, but it all gets washed away before it can germinate.

been real lazy for us here today. Been playing with my beading stuff...

REALLY!!?? Oh wow!! That would be great!...I will mention it to hubby and see what can be done. We have tickets to go to NASA and I have been hinting strongly that we go that day. Maybe we can swing by on our way to or from??? Where exactly in the Rodeo will y'all be? And how much will it cost to get in???

You're supposed to put hay over the seed. :)

I'm trying to grow some veggies in pots this year. If it's not enought to eat, at least it'll be something green to look at.

now see...I KNEW there was something missing in the way we were doing it...I asked hubby if there wasnt some sort of matrix that the seed was to be mixed with to keep it in place...

Im at my wits end because the dog gets so filthy and I am tired of sweeping up dried dirt in my new breakfast area. But you cant tell my husband anything...*sigh*
