The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

ummm... didntchuh already have a good saddle?....

Well..... yes, I did already have a saddle... now that you mention it!

But it's English.....

ecurbh needed a Western cowboy like saddle to learn in.

This is the one we got him. I like these Cordura saddles for funnin around and trail, and not only are they not very expensive as saddles go, but they are also really light! 19 pounds, compared to 40 for some western saddles. Cowboys love big saddles.

He is! Thank you! That was at a rest and lunch stop halfway through a trail ride. I like to take his bridle off and let him eat and rest. His bridle is hanging there on my saddle bag.

Good morning. Afternoon. Whatever. It's cold and rainy here, and I've got errands to do before I can do my homework.

I didn't know or trust HER! She could have made any number of claims against him.

SSQ is very sensitive to that as well. He doesn't even like it when Clare's friends come over and are up and down from her room. I would never leave him alone with them in the house for HIS protection. He has had this drilled into him at work as well since the big media push about sexual harassment. Our concern is how would he ever get his reputation back after a false accusation.

He doesn't feel the same urgency about me, because he doesn't see me being put into that position. I guess it's because there's not much in the way of accusations of men (or boys) against women.

Horses is funny creatures!

Marl says Aki is the most laid-back horse, never mind stallion, she's ever worked with. She said she'd like to enter him in one of those "liberty" classes that the Arab show offers at the same fairgrounds where the dressage group shows. That's where you take your horse into the ring, take off his halter, and let him run around like crazy for three minutes while everyone in the stands hoots and hollers and bangs on things to encourage the horse to gallop, showing his form. The trick is the owner then has 30 seconds to catch the horse after time is up, get his halter back on, and lead him out of the ring.

She's afraid that rather than gallop around the ring, he'd mosey over to the people and go from person to person looking to get petted. He feels people should be petting him, and oohing and ahhing over him, rather than making all that noise, and expecting him to run. So Marl feels that until they have a "love sponge" event, she probably won't risk entering him in a "liberty" event.

I like those liberty stallion classes, that is the way an Arab should be shown I think! A rider only ever hinders them.

Bay is a lover too... I think their loving temperament, even with their hint of sass, is more important to to the breed than their style.

I was prayin' hard for 'em last night too! And somehow, I had that inner feeling that God was moving and active. This has really done me good today. Kinda restored my hope in marriage as a whole. I think doing divorce recovery ministry I just got worn down with dealing with folks who were past the point of no return. It's really nice to see a situation that didn't get that far out of hand! God is GOOD!

Funny how I just have such a different view of marriage from most people, because I've been around more couples who make it work than who can't. I think it's amazing that you have a gift from God to work with those sorts.

I am just ROFL, elf-boy was outside with beardog. I thought that he was crying cuz he thought he was locked out. Turns out there was a dead spider next to the door, and he was so petrified that he "couldn't" open the door.
