The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Heard anything from any of the other schools you applied at? Or are you pretty well set on Colorado due to the stipend and all?
When was it you were going to go visit the campus?

I've had two rejections, waiting to hear from the others. At this point though, Colorado State is probably... 95% probability.
I'm going out there March 25. By then I should definitely have made up my mind.

Which ones came back rejections?
Personally, Colorado intrigues me...always has. So I'd be pretty excited about that if I were you!
I'm gonna keep bugging you to take pictures...

Just noticed something: the way that character is in a coma parallels the way Stephen King got injured recently in real life.

Enjoyment is underrated. Money is overrated. Somewhere in there, is balance.
There does come a time when you can find another organization that will value your skills higher and still be a pleasant place to work.
To: Fedora
Exactly.
I believe that this is what it's based on, albeit loosely.

That one doctor talking to the redhead right now looks like the kid from "Married with Children" but taller and older :)

Stanford and U Illinois. It's ok, I didn't really want to live in Illinois... and California's scary...
Mountains, mountains, mountains... you do realize if I go out there I will post pictures all the time until you join me?

There was a thread about this show...I'm not into horror, but I did skim it. It did mention that he modeled one character after his own experience, and some of the doctors are based on doctors he dealt with. He did mention that the coma guy was hurt a lot worse than he was.

Enjoyment is underrated. Money is overrated. Somewhere in there, is balance. Ain't that the truth! And balance is all I'm seeking.
Sorry to whine so much on thread...but this is the only place I CAN whine. ;-)

This lady playing the wife really stinks as an actress.

I remember the rabbit ears on the old b&w TV--LOL! I remember that like it was yesterday. Oh wait, it was yesterday.
To: RMDupree
I guess he comes up with a lot of his stories by extrapolating from his real life like that--
The Shining was about his trip to Colorado combined with his early job struggles;
Pet Semetary was about his greatest fear, of his kid dying;
Christine was about his love of cars.
Okay, now this ghost voice is creepy.

Mountains, mountains, mountains... you do realize if I go out there I will post pictures all the time until you join me?Heh...well, it does sound like a nice place. Lots to do outdoors, slightly milder weather but still four seasons, lovely scenery...

Didn't know that--interesting. I remember him mentioning once he didn't like doctors.

How about just a check? Preferably a number followed by lots n' lots of zeroes...No problem. To the right of the decimal OK for ya'?

This lady playing the wife really stinks as an actress. You mean the redhead or the lady with Lenny? The redhead one is a bad actress and also needs to do something with her hair :)
