The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

More details, as promised.

I thinking hard about taking it. The pay is a slight increase, but the benefits are better. Among other things, the new place has a 401k available, my current employer has no retirement plan of any sort. I took the current job a year ago, because I was working for a company that went into Chapter 11, and has since failed as far as I know.

Another thing is the commute. I currently travel 30 miles each way in horrendous traffic, the new place would be 10 miles closer and on the same side of Dallas that I live on.

Evening Ruthy; "my back itches" I like that, originality should count for something. :-) Could that be one of her sentences?

I can't give her points for creativity or she'll go for even more "unique" excuses. :-)

Oh good! That means it starts at 9:00 EST! I can watch it after the AI results show.

Okay, I just looked it up to be sure. Looks like it is 9 EST--here's the official info:

StephenKing.com

The air date for Kingdom Hospital has been changed. The official series premiere is now Wednesday, March 3, 9:00-11:00 PM (ET) on ABC. The subsequent episodes will air Wednesdays from 10:00-11:00 PM (ET). Click Here for more information from ABC.com

ABC.com: Kingdom Hospital

Wednesday, March 3, 9/8c Two Hour Premiere "Thy Kingdom Come" Artist Peter Rickman is run down by a stoned, two-time loser driving a minivan. He is admitted comatose to Kingdom Hospital, but not before encountering a ghostly figure whose mission is to use him to rid the hospital of malevolence, both human and inhuman, and to free its nine-year old mistress, Mary, from the hospital's haunted halls. When he awakens in an altered state with newfound but not necessarily welcome telepathic powers, Rickman finds he can communicate with the spirits, good and evil, man and beast, inhabiting the hospital. Mrs. Druse, a patient with psychic gifts, is the first to hear the cries of the trapped ghost and attempts to persuade brilliant, eccentric surgeon Dr. Hook to join her quest to identify it. She is opposed in this effort by the hopelessly arrogant and mean-spirited chief neurologist Dr. Stegman, and the ebullient but vacuous hospital administrator, Dr. Jesse James, who is concerned only with the hospital's image.

Ruthy; jotting them down would be a fun thing to show her in a few years.

PE: sounds like a better deal; 401k's are great. The AEP firms never have been much on pensions-the 401's work well and gives you a say in investment decisions, which we appreciated.

Compleat Enchanter is the only one of the Harold Shea books I've read so far. Will have to find Wall of Serpents. I went to a used bookstore looking for their other novels but so far Compleat is the only one I've found. I also like de Camp's Conan stories. BTW his website has a list of his other stuff:

I've got some classic temper tantrums on film. I can't wait to show those to her during her teen years. *grinning*

Hullo all!

I didn't go in the water at Entmoot, but mostly because I outgrew my bikini somewhere after college.

Went to town, got some hay and some Bay meds from the vet. Ecurbh bucked all the bales with his sore shoulder from yesterday! - He'll get in shape yet!
