Carry and Ammunition Suggestions for Condition Orange (Freeper Suggestions-Vanity)
The Usual Suspects ^

Well folks, it's that time of year again. Tom Ridge and the people at DHS have received the analysis of the chatter gathered by NRO, DIA, and other assorted alphabet agencies and it appears that the Rags have decided to do the whole Grinch thing.
Naturally, Americans can be an awfully accomodating bunch, in that 72 virgins kind of way, so I was wondering that given that the threat board just went to orange, what are the Best Practices for carry, ammunition, and accessories during this period. In other words, are you stuck with your 9mm when you're going about your Christmas shopping, or should one carry the 12 guage in the gun rack.
I'm serious, folks. I'm not being facetious. It only sounds that way. I have been expecting terrorists to make guerilla style attacks and acts of sabotage in the U.S. for two years now as an expression of Islamic "manhood". Unfortunately for them, there's something called the Second Amendment. So this thread is for practical suggestions for carry and concealment, choice of firearms and ammunition in a low intensity warfare environment, and of course, best practices for small unit tactics in case you run into the Madrass Jihad for Allah (as opposed to, say, the Campus Crusade for Christ).
Be Seeing You,
Chris

O.K.! Then you DO have an adjustable - not tubes - Poly-Choke !
It should have a SLUG setting...Cylinder Bore. Just be Veeewwyyy Caaaaawwwwwfffuul and double-check the setting before you launch a slug. Otherwise, it should be fine. Fighting Buckshot guns, as used in prisons, etc., often have Full Choke. The shot evidently has a lot of steam left downrange, and wound-ballistics count multiple hits as more than their simple numerical value. One=Bad....Two=BadBadBad.
Once again, may the Day any of us needs these things for more than pest control, hunting or recreation NEVER come.

..and yes..the shot-handgun, and the dreaded sawed-off rifle, it is said, is what keeps the gov't from outlawing handguns entirely. I knew a 17 year NYPD Stakeout Team veteran (17 kills, plus 1 dog, BTW), who had to shoot a man repeatedly with a heavily-loaded .38, then empty his .45, to get him to stop maiming (poked a guy's eye out with the muzzle!) and murdering people in a hotel lobby...with a sawed-off rifle he pulled out of his Mexican serape in the 1960's. Rifle loads far exceed most pistol loads, as do the legal penalties for using them !

"the assertiveness to challenge somebody who obviously does not "belong" and see if this makes him suspiciously nervous."
YOU have hit on the one thing that most people DO NOT have. The plain old steel balls to 'obliquely' question a stranger. Most folks want to sit and wait to see if the stranger does anything.

I keep a retired police Rem 870, 18" barrel, extended mag and side saddle loaded with alternating #4 and 00 buckshot, low recoil stuff,(only want to hurt the bad guy, not me) for home defense, and a Colt Gov't with 10rnd Wilson mag and Trijicon night sights to fight my way to it. Stuff's all legal, and mostly deadly, I'm sure.
I can only imagine a sawed off .30-06 rifle. After spewing a 150gr bullet out at probably in the neighborhood of 1500 to 2000 fps, the FLAMES from 60 grains of rifle powder still burning would burn the perp naked.

"I've got a nice little 2" S&W model 10 38 +P that I'm quite fond of."
Have you ever fired snake shot out of it? They'll do an impressive job at blinding close-in attackers with the first shot. The +P does a good job on vehicle doors.

I used to use those Speers. Now like Cor-Bon because of low flash.
I first encountered the Speer Lawman rounds when a fella at the gun store I was working at unloaded his Sig for me to do something with...fit a holster or grips probably...in the mid-70's...and he had somehow found bright yellow nailpolish somewhere....I will never forget that image...and sealed Shotgun primers into the hollow points.
When president Reagan got shot with supposedly "exploding" .22s......that was the reference image I had in mind. Solid yellow nailpolish flat points.
Muttly has a rather average, normal life among all you average and normal humans...doesn't he. No wonder his little brain is full.

You guys have been Luminaries on this thread, and I know that you helped a lot of people to make properly informed decisions...without some of the painful dues it may have taken to distill such decisions and choices...also some of the fun ones, too !
The rest of you also know who you are...as do we all...and it's just great to be among such comprehensive experience and mentalities again. I gain a LOT from all you guys.
I even snarl less these days. Amazing !

Thank you for including me in this list.
My "Condition Orange" motto: "Serious Guns/Calibers for Serious Times!"
Went to our annual Christmas Eve candlelight service last night and had to go back to my minivan to take off the .45 and shoulder holster. I figured God would probably understand but I felt weird. lol

Went to the range today...great choice...good patterning on the targets from 5 - 7 feet, shooting the .38's...not as well with the .357 mags...it's a cannon.
I don't think you would actually have to shoot at someone...one blast in any direction, at they'll run their asses off.
Again, thanks for a great rec., freepers are always the best...

It's a carry a lot shoot a little rig......:o)
I can't suggest highly enough the barimi or lip grips. I'll find some links for ya to peek at. That grip style is extreamly low profile for the little snubs. Added with a bianchi speed strip or two you can get away with carrying that rig in a swim suit almost.
I'll dig up the links.....Stay Safe !

Glad to help in any way, however humble.
The wisest advice to follow in any situation is the one offered long ago by none other than the legendary "Dirty Harry" (Clint Eastwood):
"A man's gotta know his limitations."
