Carry and Ammunition Suggestions for Condition Orange (Freeper Suggestions-Vanity)
The Usual Suspects ^

Well folks, it's that time of year again. Tom Ridge and the people at DHS have received the analysis of the chatter gathered by NRO, DIA, and other assorted alphabet agencies and it appears that the Rags have decided to do the whole Grinch thing.
Naturally, Americans can be an awfully accomodating bunch, in that 72 virgins kind of way, so I was wondering that given that the threat board just went to orange, what are the Best Practices for carry, ammunition, and accessories during this period. In other words, are you stuck with your 9mm when you're going about your Christmas shopping, or should one carry the 12 guage in the gun rack.
I'm serious, folks. I'm not being facetious. It only sounds that way. I have been expecting terrorists to make guerilla style attacks and acts of sabotage in the U.S. for two years now as an expression of Islamic "manhood". Unfortunately for them, there's something called the Second Amendment. So this thread is for practical suggestions for carry and concealment, choice of firearms and ammunition in a low intensity warfare environment, and of course, best practices for small unit tactics in case you run into the Madrass Jihad for Allah (as opposed to, say, the Campus Crusade for Christ).
Be Seeing You,
Chris

Plenty of .45 wrapped in a 1911A1 model of your choice. Do not buy Glock for concealed carry. Sure didn't take long for the Hari Krishnas to show up ;o)

We all know the actual chance of getting to shoot a raghead in rural America are even lower than Ralphie"s likelyhood of killing all of Black Bart's gang with his Range model carbine action 200 shot red ryder air rifle.
But we can still dream can't we?

Unfortunately I do not own a firearm "yet". I know, I know... it's almost more than a right, a duty. Owning a firearm is like having fire insurance -- if you wait until you actually need it, you won't be able to get it
A well-made, inexpensive used revolver would be a good first choice. Anything by S&W, Ruger, or Taurus in .38 or .357. Simple to operate, ammo can be bought cheap so you can practice often.
Realisticly, I don't expect swarms of Jihadis in our neighborhoods -- that would be brought to a stop right quick. Perhaps more like suicide bombers in malls, or walking into Christmas Eve church services. Most valuable would be the assertiveness to challenge somebody who obviously does not "belong" and see if this makes him suspiciously nervous. By "challange" I don't mean draw on somebody without cause, but if a young middle-eastern-type tries to walk into evening Mass wearing a bulky trenchcoat, a "Hi there! Haven't seen you around before -- did you just move in?" would seem appropriate

No change in this household; we'll continue practicing what we've heard described as the ".38 special lifestyle" - Go about one's business, don't get into confrontations over traffic situations, etc, and have a good ol' .38 special handy just in case you need it, and the vast odds are that you won't. Leave the serious hardware at home in the safe where it belongs. One obvious addendum to the above is to avoid "suspicious" types, regardless of their demeanor.

Have the .38 5-shooter under the mattress loaded. Only 20 rounds back up. Guess I'll be hitting the store tomorrow.

Why not a Glock? I think it has something to do with the way it looks when stuffed in your pants...

I have settled on the 9mm, .38/.357, .44 Magnum, and 12ga.3"...and for rifles...anything of average, widely used cartridge.Sounds familiar. Late in life I started doing as some pragmatic old-timers suggested I do: I cut down on the different ammo and myriad brushes, jags, etc. by limiting myself to .22LR, .38/.357, 12 gauge and whatever CF rifle round struck my fancy (it happened to be .223 by default). Ammo is plentiful and cheap- and if I can't bag it with one of those four, I am - to repeat a phrase - in over my head to begin with.
I find that a Marlin 1894CS with a box of 158gr SJHP's is a dandy thing to have in the car (where the burgomeisters and margraves allow such a thing, of course).

Unfortunately most of the jihadis who would attack us would probably also be killed during the commission of their act.
Other than that, carry whatever you have as long as it's reliable. It's not a bad idea to get in a habit of carrying some cash at all times too...I get to depend on my debit card and credit card but those may be worthless for awhile after a big attack.

Since 9-11 I have made a point of not traveling where I can not protect myself and the lives of my loved ones. My choice of tewls includes but is not limited to a 1911A1 and a M1A rifle. A cellular phone and digital camera along with a bug out bag is always in my vehicle . I have added additional fuel tanks to my FJ80 so I have a 72 gallon capacity and I never let it get below 3/4 level.
Plan every day as if the utilities are going off for three weeks and mogas and groceries are not available. You can stand in the Clintonista lines for a handout .... be relocated (for your safety :o) .....or .....ride it out in your own home where your family should be safe 24/7 regardless of the threat scenerio.
Just how I plan to insure my families short term safety from Mother Nature or Futhermucker Pisslamic turdburglers.
Stay Safe !

.45 Springfield Champion cocked and locked,
spare mag in belt pack, may throw some loose rounds
in that zipper pocket since the threat condition is high.
4" folder on belt,7"tungston carbide scribe in shirt pocket, mini mag light, gas mask, radiation pills,
tinfoil hat, yep I'm all set, sure would like to carry the shotgun but don't think the shoppers
at Wally world would like to see it slung across my back
with a piece of rope.
Now just got to go out and warm up the personel carrier.
Maybe put the SKS and the four thirty round mags behind the seat, keep the 70round drum locked in, I'm gonna have to get a M-2 for the roof mount someday.
Ahh, shopping is turning into such work.
Remember how in Heinlein's book "Stranger in a Strange land", the people lived in armored enclaves and traveled between them in armored car/planes?
OoOoOoOo!

I will be going back to keeping my Beretta (.380 Auto, 13 round (StarFire Jacked Hollow Point) magazine) in my briefcase starting tomorrow. I have a 'concealed' holster when the situation warrants it.
