The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Well, let's not be hasty.

I looked up the numbers she gave me. The TC, HDL and LDL are all normal or high normal. The triglycerides are on the high side. Not frighteningly so, but high enough that they shouldn't be ignored.

Darn it.

Freepmail me all the particulars about tomorrow...what time you anticipate being here, what time the movie starts for you, if there might be any breaks between movies where you can meet me outside even briefly...

We have just got to work something out.

Being young and ignerant, what do high triglycerides mean, practically? No bacon? Or just exercise more?

My line party event starts at 6pm. But the trivia contest (most important to me) doesn't begin till 8pm. I can even run to your cinema and meet you briefly.

Maybe we'll have to stock tree bark and tofu for Entmoot.

From what I understand, it's more related to sugars, both processed and the natural types that come in fruit, fruit juices, etc.

I've mentioned this before. My weakness for sugar is basically the same weekness my dad had for alcohol. I do best when I eliminate sugar almost completely.

Steak is good. How about cheese? Is lactose forbidden?

Trying to think of non-sugared goodies for Entmoot. Bacon, sausage, steak, various and sundry varieties of raw meat off the bone....

Cut down on refined carbohydrates. And exercise more.

rtt the LDL and HDL, take those with a grain of salt. (har har) Cholesterol is a weak predictor of heart disease, tho you'd never guess it from those blasted Lipitor commercials. It's presence is the body's response to disease, not the cause of disease- just like white blood cells. I read a study just Friday that looked at the role LDL plays in fighting infections... rats with lots of it wiped the bacteria out. Rats with none died. Having too little total cholesterol (<150) in the body puts you at very high risk of cancer and early death from "other causes". More important than total cholesterol is the ratio of HDL/LDL. An excellent article on it can be found here.

If you have a direct flight, why NOT check you bag? There is much less likelihood of their losing it on the single flight than if you had to change planes!

I'll put you on our Prayer list this week for a Thanksgiving for the successful sale of a house and then prayers for the successful PURCHASE of a house.
