Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Was trying to make an Escaflowne pun... I handed the disks over to my sister yesterday and we were joking about how many times Van is told he doesn't charge aggressively enough.
I need to learn some Japanese, I think. Hope it doesn't cost much!

What DO you use, if you don't use chicken? Sausage?
I think he used chicken broth to make the roux. However you spell it. It was still good, though.
I don't like chicken soup much, but there are ways I'll eat it.
To: RosieCotton
I use beef broth. Or leftover vegatable broth. This I made today has beef and pork in it. But, I'd rather have seafood. It's too hard to get here though. :-(

Was trying to make an Escaflowne pun...Ah...I was tryin' to figure out if that's what you meant.
I bet you could learn a lot of Japanese from books, internet and movies, at little or no cost. Especially if you could pick up used text books somehow.

We can sometimes get very decent seafood...we aren't far from Maine. But beef is EXPENSIVE. I suppose it is to an extent everywhere - as in more than chicken or pork - but I bet it's a lot more than it is there!

Off I go! See ya later...

I get my beef at Sam's. I don't guess I think it's too expensive. It's what I eat so I don't think too much about it. I buy big Sam's packages and then re-wrap it in smaller portions to freeze.

Both of you leaving me here alone?
Rosie, I've considered trying to pick up Japanese, but I don't have time and I've never been able to really learn another language. The words... I can learn them on paper, but don't ask me to hear them.

Back...good news is Van-sama has fresh oil, all fluids were OK, and nothing serious is wrong.
Bad news is...probably in the last really cold spell one of the seals on the left rear shock blew, and the other will need to be replaced sometime soon, too. It's not a SUPER expensive repair and the guy said it was fine to wait - just means a rougher ride. Could be worse. But still kind of a bummer.
He said cold weather can cause that, so that's most likely the reason. It's also a '97...so while not old, things ARE just starting to wear out.
To: Wneighbor
We don't have a Sam's...wish we did! That would make a difference, I suppose. As it is, beef is a treat, unless I get very small lesser cuts. Still good as flavoring in soups and all that!
To: RosieCotton
Glad to hear that Van-sama is operational! Wouldn't want you grounded...
My poor little car will have to go into the shop for a new bumper soon but I haven't heard anything on that yet, so who knows.

When I by meat for lunches and stuff, sometimes I buy beef... when I can get it cheap. Sometimes I'll get a tough cut and turn it into beef salad or something like that... just little bite-sized hunks that are easy to chew. But it's not going to be fun once I'm really on my own... I have a feeling it's going to be chicken all the time.

Chicken CAN be made palatable! It's just not as good as beef, to say the least. But it's dirt cheap, especially thighs and drumsticks!
