The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

does she go right through it or debate while snow blows in. There's a he and a she. Usually they debate...unless they're hungry. However in weather like this they're either 1) stir-crazy and want to get out of the house or 2) cold and want to come in.

Well, ummm....I'm teaching my typing technique...I learned it in high school in Office Ed...yes, I even took SHORTHAND! LOL
I don't know if I'm actually it "Miss Proper" way, but I type pretty fast using the anchors in the middle...without looking at the keyboard at all...
I'm pretty sure it's what I learned in high school, except they didn't even want us to look at the numbers when when we typed, but I still do anyway.

Heh, I took typing and shorthand in high school as well. I was just wondering if you were teaching fingers on the home keys, which fingers reach for which keys, etc.
"Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing" is a good program for practicing "proper" typing technique, by the way.

Time for me to go read (Rex Stout - a really good one, too!) and then hit the hay.
See you all bright and early!
Predicted high of 18 tomorrow - woo-hoo!

Almost got muhself in trouble today. Realized on my way out the door to the meetin' I had to cover that I had my Hobbit Hole knife
and my Swiss Army knife in my briefcase. Had to go thru a gubmint metal detector.
Thought about it in time to leave them safely stored away in my desk.
Then again the *snap-click* mighta been useful during the hour and a half I had to sit in the meeting only to find that my issue (that I of course was covering for someone else) has been delayed until the next meeting.

Yes, I'm teaching the home keys, and showing him which fingers go to which keys. But I'm not doing drills. With Matthew's brain, I don't think he needs it. He is already typing the home keys without even looking at the keyboard.
We've been working off and on with this for a while, but he seems now to developmentally gotten to the point where he can actually do it.

Luke has gotten an early start on computer gaming. Here he is playing "Roller Coaster Tycoon." He doesn't get the strategery, but he's taught himself most of the functions.

Very cool!
Given my chosen profession, I'm very glad that I did learn touch typing in high school. Just makes things so much easier to think the words and have my fingers automatically type them out...
