I wonder if they or Motorola make a digital model... that would be more secure than one that's totally in the clear.

Can't say for the type of radios we're talking about but they do have digital HAM equipment. I bet PE could give us the scoop on every little thing we need to know about it.

My handheld HAM radio is an ICOM. I like it a lot. Bought it used the week I got my license and it's been a great radio. They make good stuff.

My first HT was an O2AT. I bought is used in 1989, it was several years old then. I still have it, and it still works. It does need a new lithium cell, but otherwise is great.

We watched that too!

Good morning! Got my chickens cared for. A full gallon of warm water. And a full hopper of feed.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Charlize Theron is lovely, but I was confused cause I think she won the award for Monster, and I thought that movie had just come out in 2004 and wouldn't be eligible for the award. Apparently it had come out in 2003, and I just hadn't heard about it. It's a movie about a woman who was a serial killer (maybe the Texas woman who was just executed a couple of years ago?). I saw a TV ad for the movie the other day, and you would NEVER know that it was Charlize Theron. She is completely without makeup and looks SO different. From the little I saw of the ad, it looked like an interesting movie, and I'll get it from Netflix when its available.

Do you remember the movie Devil's Advocate with Keanu and Al Pacino? She was Keanu's wife in that movie. I used to keep getting her mixed up with Ashley Judd.

Mornin all.

Just got done dealing with the orcs from COBRA. It is absolutely amazing. All the past times, I have dealt with females, and they were nasty to me. Today, I dealt with a male and, WOW, I think we had a break through! He was polite, informative, helpful, and sympathetic to my concerns. I have ~never~ had any of them treat me like an intelligent person before. Incredible. I am almost in shock.

I'm serious as can be!!! We *really* missed you at entmoot and we need to make up in some small way. I don't know how many people we can get at what time but I'll do everything I can to get there when the most other folks can do it!

Besides. We did *NOT* have enough of a mini-moot on trilogy day! It was hard for me to have to leave you and go to THE movies!!!

You know, I have that experience a lot too. Howcome dealing with wimmin is so tedious? I've always found it *much* easier to work with men professionally as well. *sigh* I hope I'm not like that.

Yeah, I know, I almost feel like caling them back and asking to talk to his supervisor about how nice it was to work with him (and not some catty good-for-nothing who doesn't care an ilk for her job). Then I remember, he was just doing his job CORRECTLY.

I honestly think some of these "girls" are doing the bare minimum in customer care because they really don't care. I mean, what we accomplished today was getting ALL the denied claims resubmitted once and for all. Of course, last weeks call was supposed to have done the same thing, as was the call before that. I truly think that because I complained, my file got placed on a desk and conveniently forgotten about until I raised hell about it.

Keep in mind that sometimes complimenting someone for doing a job correctly can be a VEY good thing. Often the person who is doing the job RIGHT is overlooked simply because all the attention is focused on the squeaky wheels.

I've worked with those mouthy discourteous wimmin enough to have seen that their primary focus is to get themselves ahead. While they are dealing with customers in such a blatantly rude manner they are often playing office politics also to the point that they are promoted over the regular ordinary person who is actually DOING the job.

Good supervisors see that of course. But, unfortunately, many of the supervisors are those very people who've played the politics correctly and arrived at a supervisory position. That leaves the competant peons in a VEY bad position.

Yeah, I'm synical. If ya got an email address, pop off an email to HR or something. Ya never know, it might even grease more wheels for your claim!

It's one of the Philadelpia "Mummers." Don't ask me to splain it, it's a northern thing.

Don't know when it got to be the outrageous costumes and banjos thing, but 'mummers' have a long tradition. I listened to Thomas Hardy's "Return of the Native" on audiotape (it was a BORING read, but Alan Rickman made it interesting). In it, there is a group of 'Mummers' that travels the countryside entertaining the gentry.

Ya gotta shovel that mound of snow after the snowplow goes by or it DOES turn into solid ice! The kids and I went out last winter doing a public service to uncover the street drains so we wouldn't have a glacier at the bottom of the hill from the snow melting and running straight down the street. I thought I was gonna have to borrow one of the dwarves' pickaxes! It was solid ice down near the bottom cause that's what the plow had shoved off the road from several snowfalls. Got it done, though, and this year, I won't have to SEARCH for the drain cause I know where the mark is now!
