I guess he doesn't have to like science fiction, he just has to be ok with me liking it... drat, it's a problem having high standards.

Right, the interests aren't mandatory. He should, however, be smarter than me, employable, honorable, Presbyterian or something close, devoted without being a wuss, strong without being harsh, and at least slightly geeky.
