What about Marta? (Rush's wife)
Posted on 11/25/2003 4:17:54 PM PST by freedom4me
Has anyone heard Rush talk about Marta during his first week back? I haven't. Perhaps things are a bit strained in the Limbaugh household.

Is she under heavy sedation?

There has been zero, zilch, nada mention of Marta since his return. Also, if you will remember, Marta never sent a message of thanks of any kind to Rush's fans while he was in treatment. I think she has been out of the picture for quite a while, sadly.

One of the news reports a month ago indicated that the State of Florida has some questions they would like to ask her as well, but that she too has remained out of state for the duration.

Maybe she just gave up on him during his addiction.Imagine the strain on a relationship.

I Heard him say, can't remember if it was before he left or after he came back, that he had had a long conservation with his family and " 'those close to him' " about his pain killer use. But I agree if Rush is keeping a low profile on this, then he is keeping an even lower profile on his family.
By the way, any else catch the comment after he read a drudge report based on unidentified sources. 'you know it's not may housekeeper, this story appears to be true...'

Curious omission, isn't it.

I remember Rush speaking so lovingly of her after she saw him through the hearing loss crisis. He was overwhelmed with her support and love. Perhaps they've separated for a while. If she was in the dark about the drug use, she must be feeling quite betrayed.

A couple of months before the news broke about Rush and his drug use I commented to my husband, I wonder if something is going on with Rush as I haven't heard him speak of Marta in ages.
I have a question. Do you remember when it was that Rush's mother passed away?

There has been zero, zilch, nada mention of Marta since his return. Long before that.

But how do you keep something like that quiet? Not mentioning her is really ... getting obvious.

Actually I was just doing a search on this very same topic and I came across this website. Rush has not mentioned her once in the time he has been back from rehab. I have wondered that from day one, whether Marta had left him. (4) things he has done - since he has come back - have futhered my belief that this was in fact the case:
(1) His first week back from rehab, he was in New York doing the broadcast. He said that he got out of rehab Thursday and hadn't had any time to even talk to anyone until the Monday he was in New York. So he didn't even go back home first?
(2) During his opening broadcast, after thanking all the people in his life - he never mentioned his wife once.
(3) During his opening broadcast, he said that he received only a few phone calls from people while he was there - and that he really didn't talk to anyone. Not even his wife?
(4) During today's broadcast 12-19-2003, the final caller of the day said 'i hope that you and Marta have a happy holiday' and at that point (watching him on the dittocam) he took a deep breath in an attempt to hold back tears (it seemed).
I hope - if anything did happen between the two - that they can work things out. Of course, this is all speculation. But the fact that in the past he has always mentioned his wife's support in the overcoming of all of his obstacles and failed to mention her AT ALL in overcoming is most TRYING obstacle - is a bit strange.

I have also noticed that he's got a new Select Comfort commercial. He used to state what his sleep number was and what Marta's was. That one doesn't run anymore.

12-22-2003 - Rush just stated that he will be working on Christmas Eve . . . if I worked on Christmas Eve, my wife would put my 'you know what's' in a lockbox.

Actually he mentioned his wife at the end of the show in September or August (15th anniversary show) . . . he had a really nice sentiment to her and then said 'i'll see you soon' . . .

If Rush wants to keep a secret, he's certainly letting clues out.
Also, someone asked him about his cat about 10 days ago. He said no word about Marta in that time, and he even mentioned one cat (Punkin?) as HIS cat, stressing the ownership by himself only of one of the cats.
