I had to post the whole thing today.

All of us are bound to repeat ourselves as we go about our daily routine. Time after time we eat, sleep, work, and clean up. We can lose our enthusiasm for life if "there is nothing new under the sun" (Ecclesiastes 1:9).

There is another way to view life, however. The world may be likened to a stage on which the drama of eternity is being unfolded. We are the actors. The sun rises and falls like a great curtain day after day, and every time we "repeat our lines" we make a decision. We either respond to the cues of our daily circumstances just to get our part over with, or we look at our role in life as a wonderful opportunity to know and enjoy the goodness and wisdom of the great Director (5:18-20; 12:13-14).

As we gladly participate in this repetitive activity, character is formed, faith is strengthened, hope is increased, and endurance is developed. Through the normal course of events, God is saying to us that there is more to our earthly existence than the meaningless round of duties.

Part of God's plan for us is that we yield to His guidance in ordinary events that occur over and over again. Repeatedly trusting the Lord throughout this month, this week, this day, and this hour is by far the surest way to make life routinely fresh. —Mart De Haan

I brought this from last night's thread. Since Fish Hawk is in Maui, he posts late at night for many of us. Thank you again, FH. Love your poems.

ORCHARDS

white blossoms 'dorn the apple trees
much like a wedding gown
I watch them falling in the breeze
like pinwheels floating down
....... sweet snow upon the ground

...... STORM

the wind has circled the island
the sea has changed its course
great waves sculpting the softer sand
lambastes the shore with force
......... it seems without remorse

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

beside clinging vetch
are golden trumpets waking
lift their arms to stretch
......... poets wit nor feathered quill
......... have improved the daffodil

flowers of the sea
rainbows of the waxing tide
bright enemone
........ all the colors you display
....... dancing in a sea ballet

on a distant plane
smoke is mingling with the clouds
burning bright the cane
....... harvesting the sugar crops
....... sweetening the candy shops

................ Haiku by Fish Hawk

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

night came flaunting loneliness
the gibbous moon is blue
the stars are many yet so far
their warmth I never knew
no substitute for you

the sea has lost his composure
tormented to the core
he takes his wrath out on the rocks
that decorate the shore
you should have heard him roar

..... These last three posts ,if you noticed, are three different types of Haiku.

Good morning all.

* Renga or "linked verse" is Japanese poetry
whereby people take turns adding lines or verses.
One types 7 (or 5) syllables -- not words -- in a line,
which is in turn completed by another person.
Poems can branch off in multiple lines to
form a "kika" or "branched verse".

Okay, I will give it a shot, having no real idea what I am doing. :-)

Tao of the Renga *

crystals form like fallen ferns
fond memories flirting in time

gone the green essence of life
fine fronds weaving with the wind

feathery wisps of lace blend
with blue skies and autumn hues

light peers through, distant, haunting
an eery pause to reflect

our spirit seeks elusive truths
silence merely mocks with smiles

we yearn to hear the message
only sorrows pierce the calm

mendacious tendrils fracture
truth sighs yet gives no quarter

Okay, your turn. ;-)

Not even gonna try...
*chuckle*

Did I tell you I love you?
And if I did, did you hear me?
It's hard to sit here hand to stone
It's hard to go from two - one.
I think of what we said
and regret the things we didn't say
I think of what was and cry
Fly... so high, in the tear stained sky
I cry at night - life now feels like a lie
I want to see your face
And all I want to say - what to say?
Did I tell you I love you?
And if I did, did you hear me?
It's hard to sit here all alone
It's hard to find no-one here at home
I think of what we said
and regret the things we didn't say
I think of what was and I cry
Cry... at night, float on the star shimmer'd sea
I die inside - hurt so much to say goodbye
All I ask is why you had to die...
