When I clicked on to the internet, I got a new start-up screen. My start-up had been comcast.net. Did a copule of topic searches on help and went through the control panel, but couldn't get info on how to switch my start-up screen.

Tools
Internet Options
Then plug in whatever URL you want as your start page in the first entry.

First, get to the site you want to be your start-up screen. Then go to the top menu and select TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS
In the HOME PAGE box, click on USE CURRENT and hit OK

What browser are you using? Explorer? If so, go to, I think, Tools, then Internet Options and change your Home Page back to comcast.
(I'm on a Mac but I use Windows at work. I think it's Tools-Internet Options. If anyone else knows for sure, please correct me if I'm wrong).

From the Start button on your lower left corner
Programs
Accesories
System tools
Restore
Go back a day or so.
I am assuming that you are using XP!

There's a lot of that homepage hijacking going on. Just click tool, internet options and then type in the homepage you want or click default.

You may have a browser hijacker at work. If you reboot your system after setting your browser back to you favorite page then it goes back to the unwanted page then you have a hijacker. Best solution is to download the Mozilla browser which is more secure than IE.

For any computer jocks out there, I had a similar problem occur last week, and haven't been able to do anything about it. On just about the six month anniversary of my Dell system, my home page suddenly switched from dellnet.msn to
http://www.searchbox.org/start.html, a web page for buying books. Has anyone had the same or a similar experience? Any insights?

Click "Start-Run" and enter "Command," then click "OK" to bring up a DOS prompt window, then enter "FORMAT C:" at the command line.

There's a product called "Browser Hijack Blaster". It's developed and maintained by hyper-nerds
Great product -- free -- easy to download and install --use it.
