[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Just curious. There is great buzz about this all over the net, with a curious lapse of any mention at all on the alphabet news. MOST curious. How long has it been since you have heard ANY reference at all being made about the nation's current code color or a peep from Homeland Security?
Also, are there any freepers in the Yellowstone area that can validate (or refute) numerous stories citing increased concern over escalating signs that some type of natural disaster is imminent? These include additional parts of the park being closed as well as rampant rumors about increased gov. activity in the area.

JustPiper,11-9 to 11/23, We also have something in mind in that time period,I just checked with the President.

ItsHappening, the mirror site, is still churning out translated Arabic messages. Might even have beat MEMRI to publishing the original threat e-mail that started this thread.
P.S. I know what you are trying to do, JustPiper. You are trying to get this thread into the Guiness Book of Records as the lengthliest one ever known to man! :)

Could you do a "vanity" post with this information? All freepers need to hear your ideas -- and throw in the "dirty bomb" info, and what to do when the threat in known...
Dirty Bomb? Chem Attack? Bioweapon? Require vacating a neighborhood? No. Read that again. I said NO.
Chemical weapons are not weapons of mass destruction they are "Area denial," and terror weapons that dont destroy anything. When you leave the area you almost always leave the risk. Thats the difference; you can leave the area and the risk.
Chem weapons are not gasses, they are vapors and/or air borne particles. Chem must be delivered in sufficient quantity to kill/injure, and that defines when/how its used. So open a window. There problem solved.
I already explained dirty bombs. See post #1,126.
And bio weapons, well, if it is as easy as the TV makes it sound, why has Saddam Hussein spent twenty years and millions of dollars trying to get it right? If youre a clean person and you eat well and are active youre gonna live.

Even the 'little' stuff will inflict short-term terror, enough to make them sorry they even entertained the thought.
Who would get the spanking after a stunt like this?
So you think they are going BIG this time around?
A suitcase nuke or a few multi-MT warheads that have gone AWOL from the former Soviet Union would do the trick.
I certainly hope the folks in the know and in charge of preventing something like this aren't too busy looking in the wrong direction.

A "Death Blow?" Sounds like someone's been playing too much Mortal Kombat in the mosque computer room. Have no fear guys, Brad and Jennifer are heading over to straighten this all out.
And as Ann Coulter said, "I don't think Al Qaeda has the technology to cause a blackout. They don't even have chairs."

I didn't say it wouldn't. I said it wouldn't "Require vacating a neighborhood" like you posted.
And guess what, the Net postings are short-term terror.
>>>So you think they are going BIG this time around?
I don't see how they could here in the States. We would know about an event of this magnitude from monitoring the First Ranks communications. I can't begin to fathom how they would pull it off.

You're way ahead of me here.
Heck, I'm still tryin' to fgiure out why they're tryin' to kill their own voters over here.
Seems like they ought go kill a bunch of us folks here in the red zones.

I was originally referring to the warning to the Muslims to vacate in advance of the event. Yes some of this stuff has been over-hyped, but the public will freak as soon as the words of type of attack leave the lips of the newsman that just happens to be on the screen at the time. I don't feel at all confident that our borders are secure enough to stop the nasty stuff from coming in now, or in the recent past. Maybe something was hauled into the L.A. area in 1987 and folks have been sitting on it for the 'right time'.

1987? And you would think it still works?
>>>I was originally referring to the warning to the Muslims to vacate in advance of the event.
Yes, I know that. And my point was no one, Muslim or non muslim would have to vacate an entire neighborhood for the events you listed.

But if the Imaan and First Ranked don't do something during this Ramadan...I don't even think a true Muslim will take them seriously anymore.Boy, that would be funny if this is all a ruse to make them look like a bunch of bleedin' idiots. Could be the feds and they would never admit it. Could be some kid in Ohio sitting back and enjoying the show.

More than anything else, that is what al qaeda's stated intentions are; they want to destroy America and the easiest way to do that is to take away its economic power. Rather than kill or maim many people, dirty bombs would wreak havoc with the economy by shutting down an area of a city or an entire city.
To: Calpernia
I forgot to add that perception is reality, as you may know. It doesn't matter what the experts say about the relative safety of an area following an event; people will flee and avoid...Personally, I don't know anyone who would venture into an area hit by dirty bombs or nukes even after a clean up!
To: Donna Lee Nardo
Probably because I'm sleep-walkin' by now, but it occurs that there is a scenario that would cause economic fall-out, need for "them" to evacuate, and create a great deal of fear..... that would be some sort of biological dispersion.
Now that we are heading into the season of jingle bills and bellies, it would make sense that this might be the most likely choice.
At the risk of taking a HUGE leap into tinfoil time, it is rather odd that in the last week there has been a state which has been slammed with a MAJOR "flu" (perhaps test) epidemic. According to the CDC, Texas has....for no good reason.... shown an astounding increase/outbreak in illness that has "eclipsed" (bad pun), the rest of the nation.
Granted, it sounds like a not so novel plot....BUT......
