>>>>Could this be camouflaged to appear as an ordinary (& safe) computer "thingy" & actually be a component that could be used to assemble something in an airplane restroom? I remember some years back, ME guys coming over from Canada with boxes of Casio watches and other items...all items appeared harmless until someone said that if you took them and added a couple of other items, you'd have a nice bomb.

I have no idea if this was a camouflaged item on this particular plane/incident. But I wanted to add a memory refresher.

Pan American 747 had a bomb hidden implemented in a boom box/radio.

Hmmmmm.....I have never seen one of these computer things and I wonder if security was very familiar with it (was it on list of things to check?). Maybe this just fell off of something but maybe it was put there so that security people would become more familiar with them and later might see one (that has been tampered with to be something other than it is) and just let it pass though security - thinking its just a computer thing. The original article didn't seem to match the item to a particular passenger and it would seem this would be easy to do...maybe they did later and I just didn't see an updated article.

Note: A lot of these results look like the spam I'm continually dumping.

>>Calpernia, was that discussion regarding area codes in this thread?

Yes it was. But I was adding that bit to support the fact that the 'poster' is also an FR 'reader'.

I would really have to do some heavy upstream swimming to find that post. If I can, I will tonight; but I am swamped with website work for a client.

Well, sorry about all this then. I only posted to this thread because it was the only one I'm currently following enough to post to. Although I do read most other articles on this site, this one has grabbed my attention. Much like all of yours. I guess I can't to anything to prove I'm not the enemy, but since this board has been so hostile, I'll take my leave. Sorry for interupting things.

Gotcha...now can it be set as a switch instead of a key (I bet it can somehow and that would be why the plane would turn around.)

I gotta say that this post from "Usama" had me rolling on the floor in stitches.

If there was ever ANY doubt as to if EOM was "real", this squashes it - TOTALLY.

Yeah. Usama posting on the CN&Y board from Iran. LOL!

Next, we'll have Elvis posting from Kalamazoo, MI - at the Burger King he's said to frequent.

Conclusion: "EOM" is "BS". A figment of someone's overactive imagination. (I have no doubt "he/she" posted < 9/11. This is not that person, but an imposter having some very twisted "fun" with people). Mentally disturbed, if you ask me.

Could this be camouflaged to appear as an ordinary (& safe) computer "thingy" & actually be a component that could be used to assemble something in an airplane restroom?

No. I use these things daily. They change numbers randomly. There is no electrical output to wire into a detonation device, nor any way to predict what number will come up every 60 seconds.

This was an overreaction, but I'd rather have that than dead people.

Remember also that issues like maintaining teamwork, morale, distraction, attrition, and operational secrecy can be signs of growing pains in an organization, as well as signs that the organization is having management issues.

Heck any manager has to deal with those issues on any job - when I manage a web development project I have to deal with all of the above issues and the project staff isn't expected to martyr themselves.

Al Qaeda on the other hand really takes the phrase "working oneself to death" to the extreme.
